A 10-year-old boy, Monday Omoruye, who lives at Ring Road in Edo State has been arrested by security operatives for his involvement in crime activities. In a video that has now gone viral, Omoruye confessed that he was introduced to robbery by his brother and that he had carried out four robbery operations so far.
When asked where he got his weapons from, he said during the 2020 #EndSARS protests, he alongside his brother and some of their friends broke into Oba market police station and stole arms from the station. Speaking further, Omoruye said his brother taught him how to shoot a pistol and so far he had killed two people during the course of robbery. He said, “My name is Monday Omoruye. My father, Odiom, stays at Aro Junction. My mummy stays elsewhere while I stay at Ringroad.
“I am here because of the phone matter. One of my friends, someone came to buy a chain from him, N10, 000, he gave him N8, 000. We said we should go and get the N2, 000, we held him that he won’t go unless he pays the complete money. “There’s one guy, I don’t know if he was drunk, he gave us a phone, we returned it. He told the other guy he wants to sleep, we told him not to allow him sleep because that one will steal everything, money and phone, the guy didn’t listen.
When it was daybreak, I said don’t give him your phone but he didn’t listen, the other guy told him he wanted to download lots of music but ran away so we were looking for him, the owner of the phone said if he doesn’t see him, he will hold me, that was why he held me, called vigilante for me. “My brother has two police guns that he collected from the police station at Urban market during #EndSARS protest.
“I can operate a small pistol, my brother taught me and he keeps them all. I have followed them to four robbery operations in Sapele, Siluko Road, Sakpoba. We have killed 2 people, one at Siluko Road, the other at Igan Market. I don’t know the names of those people we killed. When we finish robbing, we go to the cartel. “If you want to see my brother, go in the morning and around 8pm, you will see him.”
One Mohammed Sani, 30, has been apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Nasarawa State for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in the Angwatashi area of the Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.
Parading the suspect at the state headquarters of the NSCDC in Lafia on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Saraju Muhammed, said Mohammed lured his victim into a secluded place on the pretext of buying sachet water from her and had carnal knowledge of her.
It was gathered that when the victim came home, her parents reported the incident at the Angwatashi Police Station and the suspect was arrested.
Recounting her ordeal to our correspondent in an exclusive interview immediately after the suspect was paraded, the victim said Mohammed threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The NSCDC image maker told our correspondent that the suspect had earlier confessed to the act and would be charged as soon as the command completed its investigation.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, has secured the conviction of one Oteyowo Akinkunmi Samuel over internet-related fraud.
Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State pronounced the 32-year-old, who claimed to be a graduate of civil engineering, guilty of a one-count amended charge of criminal impersonation on Monday, January 18, 2021 and handed him fourteen months custodial sentence.
The crime offends Section 22(2) (b) (ii) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention Etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2) of the same Act.
He was charged for defrauding one Warren Doht, an American, of a total sum of N19,664,128.50 (Nineteen Million, Six Hundred and Sixty Four Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty Eight Naira, Fifty Kobo).
The convict had, however, approached the Commission for a plea bargain agreement which formed the basis for the amended charge with which he was arraigned and convicted of on Monday.
After pleading guilty to the amended charge, prosecution counsel Murtala Usman urged the court to convict him accordingly.
Apart from the jail term, the court also ordered Oteyowo to restitute the N19,664,128.50 to the victim of his crime.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a former guard, Mela Samaila, for allegedly stealing the offering box of the Grace Nations Church, aka Liberation City.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect who worked for the church as a security official, broke into the auditorium.
According to the police spokesman, Samaila, reportedly stole the offering box containing an undisclosed amount of money in the church located at Ojodu Abiodun in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect was said to be arrested following a distress call received by the police at the Ojodu Abiodun Divisional Headquarters from security men on duty at the church.

To Oyeyemi, the suspect broke into the church around 4am on Thursday, noting that the guards told the police that a thief scaled the fence of the church, broke into the main auditorium and made away with the church’s offering box.
“Upon the distress call, the DPO Ojodu Abiodun division, CSP Eyitayo Akinluwade, quickly mobilised his patrol team to the scene, combed the area and succeeded in arresting the suspect with the help of the security men of the church and the offering box was recovered from him,” he said.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was once a security man in the church, but was relieved of his duty due to some untoward behaviour.”
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has directed that the suspect be charged to court.
A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced a Serial killer, Gracious David-West to death by hanging for the multiple murder of several females in hotels in different parts of the state.
David-West who was charged with ten counts of murder and attempted murder is reported to have committed the crime in hotels in Port Harcourt where he strangled his victims to death.
He, thereafter, used a white cloth to tie their hands and legs before making away with their valuables in 2019.
The trial Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli in his judgment said, “Gracious David-West should be hanged on his neck until he is dead.”
The Court resolved that the prosecution was able to prove their case behind reasonable doubts with all the evidence and witnesses brought before the court.
Justice Enebeli who based his judgment on the voluntary statement and confession of the David-West as well as the CCTV footage of the convicted which was tendered and displayed during trial proved that he is guilty of the crime which was carried out between 30th of July and September, 2019.
