Again, Sunday Igboho’s house comes under attack

Ahead of his planned Yoruba Rally in Lagos, the residence of activist, Sunday Igboho, was attacked by identified assailants.

Igboho’s house situated at the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State, was attacked around 1am on Thursday, according to his spokesman Olayomi Koiki.

Koiki made these claims on Thursday via a statement issued on a Facebook Live chat.

He said, “I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came”, he said.

He added, “The situation is very active as more security operatives in about seven Nigerian Army patrol vans have arrived.”

However, the spokesman said, “He (Sunday Igboho) is currently safe.”

This is the second time Igboho’s residence is coming under attack. It was also attacked recently in the wake of crisis in the state after the Fulanis community in Igangan area of the state was sacked by Igboho’s supporters.

Ripples Nigeria had reported that the Lagos police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said he is not aware of the planned rally for Yoruba nation in the state being organised by Igboho.

“I am not aware of Sunday Igboho’s planned Lagos rally. When the Command is aware, the Command will react to that. For now, we are not aware of that,” he said.

Another attack on INEC, police as unknown gunmen strike Awka offices

Unknown gunmen on Sunday evening attacked B Division of the Nigeria Police Divisional Station and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa, Anambra.

Ripples Nigeria gathered that the fully armed attackers came in three Hilux trucks at about 8pm on Sunday, May 23.

An eyewitness reported that the bandits shot into the air for close to one hour at B Police Division before proceeding to INEC office in Awka.

The source who spoke under anonymity, said before proceeding to INEC, the gunmen drove to Aroma junction and shot in the air for about 10 minutes which made residents scamper for safety before they headed down to INEC.

Though the source said he could not speak on causality figure, he added that there was likelihood of collosal damage at both institutions with possible killings of human beings.

“I saw flames of fire going up from the police station and INEC offices, but I cannot say whether people were killed or not because I did not go closer,” he said.

When contacted, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra said he had received information on the attack in his office, but that he could not officially comment on the matter.

“I need to get clear picture of what happened in my office before I can speak”, he said.

In the same vein, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said he was still making contacts to get correct situation of things around the two federal institutions in the state.

Anambra commissioner kidnapped during attack on Soludo released

The Anambra Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, who was abducted on March 31, has been released, the state Police command has confirmed.

Ripples Nigeria had reported that Ezenwanne was kidnapped by some gunmen, after a gun battle that led to the death of three police personnel.

The kidnappers had invaded the venue of an interactive session between an All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship aspirant, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and youths at Isuofia civic centre.

Confirming his release in a statement, on Sunday, April 4, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesman, said Ezenwanne was released in safe condition in the early hours of Sunday.

“The police, military and other security agencies had mounted an intense search and rescue effort, which had closed in on his abductors, thereby forcing his release.

“The Honourable commissioner returned home unhurt, in the early hours of today 4th April 2021,” Ikenga said.

The police spokesman expressed the commitment of the command to apprehend the remaining gang members, after arresting five suspects earlier, as well as ensuring the safety of all residents of the state.

Award winning Real-Estate Entrepreneur, Omoha Nduka just shared a new tweet, In reference to his tweet recent tweet about Mr Macaroni being the scapegoat to other Nigerian celebrities.

Mr Macaroni happens to be one of the peaceful protesters at the Lekki Tollgate and he was also arrested. However, they have been granted bail.

Some Nigerians have attacked Omoha Nduka for saying Mr Macaroni is now a scapegoat to other celebrities.

However, he said before anyone attack him, they should ask themselves why didn’t other celebrities join Mr Macaroni on the protests? He said where are they? He also added that were they not aware that #OcuppyLekkiTollGate will hold on Saturday, February 13th, 2021?

Young man set ablaze by his girlfriend.

A young man named Elvis Chidimma Omah from Nsukka local government area of Enugu State was set ablaze by his 18 year old girlfriend, Esther from Ado local government area of Benue State. The incident took place in Makurdi town happened at about 2am on Monday.

Trouble started shortly after Esther was told by her friends that Chidinma travelled to his village to pay the bride price of another girl he intends to marry, an allegation he vehemently denied when asked. 

Consequently, Esther went and bought Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol and brought it to Chidinma’s house where she intended spending the night. Few minutes after 2am, Esther woke up while the victim was still sleeping, poured the petrol in the room and ignited it. 

Eyes witnesses stated that Chidinma was burnt beyond recognition at the time the fire was quenched.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident and the eventual arrest of the culprit, saying she was in their custody while investigation is ongoing.
