Super Eagles react to 2-1 shock home defeat to Rwanda

Super Eagles of Nigeria have expressed disappointment following their 2-1 shock home defeat to Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup Nations, AFCON, qualifier on Monday.

Rwanda defeated Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in their final AFCON group D encounter.

AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze gave the Super Eagles the lead before the hour mark.

Chukwueze dribbled past three Rwandan players before slotting the ball in the net.

Rwanda fought back and equalized via Jimmy Mutsinzi in the 72nd minute.

The visitors took the lead for the first time in the game through Innocent Nshuti three minutes later.

Reacting, the Super Eagles in a tweet on their X account, wrote:

“We are disappointed to have ended our great run in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers with a home loss.

“We will bounce back. Thank you for all your support through the qualifiers and see you in Morocco.#soarsupereagles.”
