Clothes make it easy for anyone to differentiate between a man and a woman. Men wear trousers and shoes while women wear skirts and heels. This is the way we have grown to know things. Although there are people who dress in clothings typically worn by members of the opposite gender, but we barely see them in a shirt, skirt and heels. Mark Bryan does that with pride.
Mark Bryan, a 61-year-old American citizen who resides in Germany is a robotic engineer. He decided to start wearing skirts and heels three years ago to challenge gender stereotypes. He wears skirts and heels at home, to the town and even to work.
Unlike most crossdressers like Bobrisky and Jay Boogie who are transgender, Mark’s Instagram page reads “a straight, married guy, that loves Porsches, beautiful women”.
Mark has three children from his 11-year-old marriage. His wife mostly makes suggestions on what he should wear and his daughter sometimes wishes that she could borrow his heels.
He further revealed that when he first started, he wore heels and trousers and sometimes women’s trousers, until his wife suggested he wears a dress or a skirt since he has “nice legs to show”. However, he decided to wear skirts because dresses seem too feminine.
He described the mixed reactions he gets from both genders. While women, mostly in their 30s to 40s compliment him, men do not, rather they ask questions or make comments.
Mark believes that it is unjust to bind styles into gender as it creates limitations for people who want to enjoy styling. He emphasises that people should wear whatever they feel like insofar as they are comfortable.
