This is as a result of an apparent suicide of a 22-year old young woman who was allegedly declared a witch by her family Pastor .
According to reports, the lady whose name is Judith Appiah Kubi, known in the locality as Otengwaa, tragically ingested a chemical meant for killing farm weeds, in a bid to end her own life.
Leading to the unfortunate event, a family Pastor reportedly accused Ms. Judith of being involved in witchcraft. According to reports, Ms. Judith was publicly humiliated following such claims by the pastor. She was marched through the streets of Assin Dawomako, while stripped naked by the mob.
The mother to the deceased, Mrs. Faustina Akyie, was said to have thrown her out of the house following the so-called revelation by the Pastor, Known as Prophet Opoku Agyemang. The Prophet reportedly managed to convince Mrs. Faustina that her daughter was the prime cause of all her misfortune.
The depression and Stigmatization faced by Ms.Judith after her public humiliation, is suspected to be the cause of her decision to commit suicide.
Reports made it known that her uncle , Mr Kofi Osei, had adopted her. However, the deceased was welcomed with abusive words when she contacted her mother on the phone for reconciliation. Her mother allegedly abused her verbally and threatened to tell her landlord about the so-called revelation made by their family Pastor.
“out of pain, the deceased committed suicide by drinking a weedicide (gramozone)”, the report stated.
