The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has released singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, three days after he was held in their custody.
D’Banj was arrested on Tuesday night December 6, when he visited the commission to answer questions bordering on his alleged involvement in the fraudulent diversion of monies earmarked by the Federal government for N-Power project, an empowerment program set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.
After three days of questioning, he was released today, December 9.
Confirming his release, his lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said the singer was released on self-recognition but didn’t confirm if he was on administrative bail.
”Nothing incriminating was found on him. He was released on self-recognition. Right now, we expect the ICPC to give a letter of clearance to Dbanj because, as we have always said, he is innocent of the charges brought against him,” he said
