The federal government has urged Israel and Palestine authorities to respect human rights, saying the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is watching the unfolding conflicts that have recently beset the peninsula.
FG spoke through the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama in a statement issued by foreign affairs spokesman, Ferdinand Nwoye, on Thursday.
The government urged both parties to de-escalate hostilities and commit a two-state solution.
The statement read; “The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to state that the Federal Government of Nigeria is watching with great concern the unfolding developments with Israel and the State of Palestine and urges both parties to see reason and de-escalate the hostilities.
The Federal Government further urges the two parties to remain committed to the two-state solution and, in the meantime, guarantee the rights of all citizens to live in peace and dignity.”
Israel and Palestine have been locked in violence since last week when Gaza residents launched airstrikes into occupied areas of East Jerusalem.
