A magistrate court in Ifo has granted bail to controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over alleged assault and theft.
The police command in Ogun had charged Portable with a three-count charge bordering on assault and theft of musical equipment.
The singer was arrested on Friday for assaulting his former artiste Manny Monie.
On Tuesday, Portable was accused of insulting police officers, saying he is a “federal government’s liability” and, as such, cannot be arrested, and later screamed a line from his latest single, “I’m a baboon. I stay in a zoo, Zazuu.” “Can you hold me?” he allegedly told the police officers who had come to arrest him.
The artiste had refused to acknowledge the invitation to be questioned by the police command after a report was lodged against him by Manny Monie.
In a video found online four days ago, Portable said, “That I beat an apprentice doesn’t mean that police officers should come to arrest me. These things happen.”
According to police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the artiste would be prosecuted.
