Babatunde, from investigation, has practised for over 10 years and was charged by the police in a case file number: MOS/152C/2021. A man, identified as Adebowale Babatunde, has been arrested for parading himself as a lawyer while presenting himself as a counsel before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State. Babatunde, from investigation, has practised for over 10 years and was charged by the police in a case file number: MOS/152C/2021.
According to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Osogbo branch, Dawood Ajetunmobi, the Ministry of Justice has taken over the case from the police after the union requested it to do so.
It was learnt that the fake lawyer, Babatunde on March 10, 2021, appeared before Magistrate A. A Adeyeba to move a motion. However, the way and manner in which the fake lawyer conducted himself in the court raised suspicion which angered one of the lawyers in the court.
The lawyer, O.U Yussuf asked the court through an oral application to dig into the personal details and status of Babatunde as a lawyer. The magistrate gave a prompt order for the arrest of the defendant.
Meanwhile, the trial of the defendant which was supposed to come up on Wednesday, 8, September 2021 before the Osogbo Chief Magistrate A.K Ajala was shelved as Babatunde was absent in court which was the direct consequence of discovering him as a fake lawyer.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ajala refused the prosecutor’s prayer and adjourned the matter to September 24, 2021 for fresh arraignment since the matter is coming up before him for the first time.
A community leader, the Enogie of Uroho in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo State, Iguodala Ogieriakhi, has been accused of beating a 25-year-old woman, Faith Aigbe, to death
It was gathered that body of the young woman was found in the vehicle belonging to the community leader at the Specialist Hospital in Benin City on Thursday, September 9.
The situation led to serious apprehension as some angry sympathizers broke the windscreen of the SUV Sports Utility car to catch a glimpse of the dead body.
Police officers from Aideyan police division were said to have arrived at the scene and towed the vehicle along with Faith’s remains to the nearest police.
Friends and family members of the deceased have taken to social media to demand for justice while calling on the police to thoroughly investigate the death as they suspect foul play.
According to a statement by the family, the community leader, who is reportedly married to four wives, has been allegedly pestering Faith for a relationship.
On Thursday, he allegedly lured the deceased to a location where she informed him that she is engaged to another man and planning her wedding.
Enraged by the information, he was said to have brutally assaulted Faith until she lost consciousness. He then bundled her into his tinted Lexus 350, drove to the Specialist Hospital in Benin City and fled, leaving her to die. Read below:

“The said Ohen went into a rage and beat the young girl mercilessly until she became unresponsive, then he dragged her into his tinted Lexus 350 and drove her to central hospital, on arrival at central hospital he parked his car with the young girl inside and fled the scene without trying to get the hospital emergency teams to administer treatment or first aid to her
“Seeing that the young girl did not return home after some hours the family started a frantic search for her and one of the boys to the Ohen informed the family of her whereabouts, they rushed to the hospital parking lot and searched for the car on finding the car and the young girl sucked in the back seat the mother tried to force the car door open in the hope that the girl might still be alive but the hospital secirty stopped her and requested they go get the police.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the Economic Community of West African States must take proactive steps to prevent coup d’etat in the sub-region and even on the continent.
This is as he revealed that the unconstitutional seizure of power in any shape or form is simply unacceptable and has no place in the 21st century.
Osinbajo said this yesterday at a virtual Extraordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS member-states.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said the meeting, attended by 10 of the ECOWAS leaders, alongside others, including representatives from the United Nations, comes after Guinean President Alpha Conde was ousted by a coup d’etat in the West African country on September 5. This culminated in his arrest and detention by the country’s military junta, the dissolution of the Guinean Government, suspension of the Constitution, and a military takeover.
“Stating Nigeria’s position on the unfortunate development in Guinea, the Vice President said, “I join all well-meaning global leaders to express in the strongest terms the condemnation of the Government of Nigeria of this unconstitutional change of Government; a development that could seriously destabilize the Republic of Guinea.”
“What happened in Guinea is a brazen disregard for the provisions of ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance, which clearly states that every accession to power must be made through free, fair and transparent election.”
According to the VP, “The unconstitutional seizure of power in any shape or form is simply unacceptable,” noting that “four coups within the last few months is a dangerous trend indeed,” in the sub-region.
While expressing concern, Osinbajo went ahead to table an idea which the Chairman of ECOWAS and President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo later described as “a proposal of great weight.”
According to the VP, “We are sliding back to the infamous 60s. Our zero-tolerance for coups is important but clearly insufficient. Are there further steps that we can take to prevent coup d’etat?
“Could we, for example, work out an understanding with the UN, AU, Commonwealth and possibly, even the development finance institutions we are a part of to act in unity to suspend a country where there has been a seizure of power from all these bodies simultaneously?”
The statement said, “In the same vein, the Vice President noted that it was imperative that countries in the sub-region respect the provisions against unconstitutional accession to power, and to apply it in all instances.
“He then called on “the Authority to immediately invoke the provisions of Article 45 of the ECOWAS Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance by suspending Guinea from all ECOWAS decision-making bodies and statutory meetings. We should also take any other necessary punitive measures that will ensure that the military junta does not overstay in power.”
Osinbajo said, “We must forestall a repeat of military interventions and the instability it engenders in the West African sub-region. In this connection, Nigeria wishes to once again urge all to always respect the principles of democracy and the constitutions of your respective countries.”
Furthermore, the VP urged the ECOWAS Commission “to immediately appoint a Mediator to lead the region’s genuine engagement with the military junta, all political actors, and civil society groups in Guinea towards finding a lasting solution that will return the country to democratic rule as soon as possible.”
He added that “ECOWAS must use its regional mechanisms efficiently to engage the military junta and if necessary, provide support for them to return the country to normalcy and democratic rule.”
Osinbajo urged the military junta in Guinea to not only ensure the physical safety of President Condé and all those detained along with him but also ensure his immediate and unconditional release.
“The safety of lives and property of the people of Guinea must also be guaranteed. The military must draw up a timetable for a civilian-led transition and commence the process of exiting the Guinean political stage and return the country to constitutional order and civilian rule,” Osinbajo submitted.
The Ondo State government has barred trading unions and associations under the umbrella of Ondo State United Artisan Group from fixing and enforcing uniform prices of goods and services being sold or rendered by their members and non-members.
This is part of measures taken by the state to protect its citizens amid soaring costs and incessant increases in prices of goods and services by artisans including farm produce and food items.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, “Government had before now watched with discomfort and dismay the economic suffocation of the people with unimaginable increases in prices of goods and services in markets, shops and other sales outlets across the state.
“Even without due regard for market forces, it is obvious that associations and unions are largely behind this unwholesome act.
“The state government has decided to act decisively even as the public deserves protection from this undesirable exploitation under some guises.
“Therefore, fixing market prices and imposing fixed exorbitant prices on the people under the guise of association or union must be stopped forthwith.
“Accordingly, as part of the measures, individuals, artisans, traders and providers of services as well as farmers are henceforth allowed to operate, sell their produce and render any service in any part of the state as they may deem profitable, based on the principle of demand and supply and prevailing market forces. This is just as membership of associations and unions remains voluntary as provided for in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
“Consequently, Government’s right to regulate the activities of Trading Associations and Artisan groups has to be invoked in the interest of residents. Therefore, on no account should any Union/Association fix or enforce prices of goods and services.
“Similarly, there shall be no sale of tickets to Artisans/Traders by any Association/Union without due approval of the state government through the Internal Revenue Service”.
“All concerned are, therefore, advised to adhere strictly to this directive as any person or group found to be flouting it will be made to face the full weight of the extant laws.
“It is to be noted too that this directive takes effect from today in all markets and sales outlets across the 18 LGAs of the state.”
Human rights activist and the convener of an advocacy group, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju has commended the residents of Imo State for complying with the sit-at-home directive of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in protest against the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state.
Kanu had previously directed the people of the state to stay indoors to prevent them from welcoming the president to the state.
Adeyanju on his official Twitter page, stated that it was obvious that IPOB and the citizens of Imo state who complied with the Sit-at-home order, spoke to President Muhammadu Buhari in the ‘language he understands’.
He added that despite the heavy security agents deployed to the state, Buhari hurriedly inaugurated a road project and left the street because of fear of the unknown.
He said IPOB only asked for a sit-at-home but was given a lockdown instead.
Earlier reports showed that residents of the state obeyed the order by staying indoors, while business activities were grounded.
The streets were also deserted during President Buhari’s visit to the state.
Adeyanju further mocked Buhari saying what happened in Imo State was a message to him that he had already lost popularity in the state.
Adeyanju tweeted: “IPOB communicating to Buhari in the language he understands. It’s a ghost town. Even with the massive deployment of military, they hurriedly commissioned the project and left the street. The road Supreme Court Governor told Buhari to commission was 90% completed by Emeka Ihedioha.

— Comrade Deji Adeyanju (@adeyanjudeji) September 9, 2021 “With what Buhari has seen today in Imo, I hope when next Supreme Court Governor goes to Aso Rock to lie to him that he is in charge of the state, he will just laugh. How Uzodinma will even campaign round Imo State for re-election will be a miracle.
“Imo people are wicked. LOL! It was supposed to be a Sit-At-Home but they turned it to Lockdown. Buhari completely disgraced.
“The lockdown of Imo State today shocked even BBC Igbo. They had to go look for old #EndSARS picture to add for Buhari. Although they have now apologised for this, E Choke.”
— Comrade Deji Adeyanju (@adeyanjudeji) September 9, 2021 In a tweet shared on Tuesday, June 1, Buhari spoke about the civil war experience and threatened to deal with secession agitators “bent on destroying” Nigeria through “insurrection” and treat them on language they understand.
“Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand,” he had said.
Popular Ghanaian actress, Abena Korkor has disclosed what pushed her into sharing her n*des on social media.
The media personality in an interview with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, revealed that she began sharing her n*de photos and racy videos of herself after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Speaking on the experience she stated that she used to be a quiet church girl who young ladies wanted to model their lives after until she suddenly changed and became the lady no young girl wants to associate with.
She however noted that showing her skin doesn’t make her less intelligent or industrious. According to her, women should be proud of their sxuality and African women who are proud of exhibiting their sxuality, shouldn’t be seen as being loose or without morals. Recall that in 2016 Abena launched her mental health campaign which is aimed at improving mechanisms which will allow students to seek mental health service in schools. The attorneys general in Nigeria’s 36 States have sued the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for non-remittance of stamp duties fund generated from the states.
According to a court document, the attorneys sued Malami because funds generated from stamp duties are not remitted into states’ coffers, People’s Gazette reports.
They sought an order of the court to mandate Malami to pay N176 billion for the backlog of stamp duties received between 2015 and 2020.
The document read partly, “An order of this honourable court directing the defendant to pay over to the plaintiffs all the sum of monies amounting to one hundred and seventy-six billion, sixty-seven million, four hundred thousand naira (N176,067,400,000,00) representing ascertained and admitted collected stamp duties on individual persons’ transactions within their respective states for the period of 2015 and 2020, and thereafter till the time of the judgment of this honourable court or any other sum as the plaintiffs may be found entitled by the honourable court.”
The attorneys general also sought an order of perpetual injunction, “restraining the defendant by himself, privies, agents or any persons by whatever name or howsoever called from appointing anyone for the purpose of collecting Stamp Duties on individual persons’ transactions within the respective states of the plaintiffs henceforth.”
They further sought to declare that Malami had no right to withhold stamp duty transactions from individuals in their states. In the document, they argued that Malami should not be allowed to collect, administer or collect stamp duties.
“A declaration that the defendant is not entitled to collect, administer, or keep the proceeds of any stamp duties on transactions involving individuals within the respective states of the plaintiffs or any manner interfere with the plaintiff’s right and authority in the administering the provision of Section 4(2) of the Stamp Duties Act Cap. S8 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria,” the document explained.
They sought the court to declare their entitlement to receive 85 per cent of stamp duties generated from electronic money transfer levies and others. They demanded a declaration that “the plaintiffs are entitled to 85% of all stamp duties collected on electronic money transfer levy, on electronic receipts or electronic transfer for money deposited in deposit money banks and financial institutions, on any type of account to be accounted for and expressed to be received by the person to whom the transfer or deposit is made in the plaintiffs’ respective states.”
After overthrowing the government of Afghanistan, the Taliban, on Tuesday, announced key posts for their new interim government with strong non-conformist and wanted terrorists as part of the new regime.
Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, who is on a UN sanctions list, was named as leader of the new government, while Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar, was named as his deputy at a news conference in Kabul.
Here is a rundown of several key senior officials announced into the Taliban government:
Mohammad Hasan Akhund, Acting Prime Minister
Mullah Mohammed Hasan Akhund is a Taliban veteran who was a close associate and political adviser to Mullah Omar, the founder of the movement and its first Supreme Leader.
A member of the group’s Supreme Council, he served as Deputy Foreign Minister in their previous regime, and was placed on a UN Security Council sanctions list connected to the “acts and activities” of the Taliban.
From Kandahar, he previously served as the Taliban Governor of the key province. He also served as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister during the Taliban’s first stint in power in Afghanistan in the 1990s.
The United Nations said he had a reputation of having been “one of the most effective Taliban commanders”.
Abdul Ghani Baradar, Acting Deputy Prime Minister
Abdul Ghani Baradar, named as Deputy to Hasan, was born and raised in Kandahar, and like most Afghans, Baradar’s life was forever changed by the Soviet invasion of the country in the late 1970s, transforming him into a fighter.
He was believed to have fought side-by-side with Mullah Omar. The two would go on to found the Taliban movement in the early 1990s during the chaos and corruption of the civil war that followed the Soviet withdrawal.
After the Taliban government was toppled in 2001 by US-led forces, Baradar is believed to have been among a small group of Taliban members who approached interim leader, Hamid Karzai, with a potential deal that would have seen the group recognise the new administration.
Arrested in Pakistan in 2010, Baradar was kept in custody until pressure from the United States saw him freed in 2018 and relocated to Qatar.
While in Qatar, Baradar was appointed head of the Taliban’s political office and oversaw the signing of the troop withdrawal agreement with the US.
Sirajuddin Haqqani, Acting Interior Minister
The son of a famed commander from the war against the Soviets, Sirajuddin Haqqani, has doubled as the Deputy Leader of the Taliban and head of the powerful Haqqani network.
The Haqqani network is a US-designated “terror group” long viewed as one of the most dangerous armed groups in Afghanistan.
It is infamous for its use of suicide bombers and is believed to have orchestrated some of the most high-profile attacks in Kabul over the years.
The network is also accused of assassinating top Afghan officials and holding kidnapped Western citizens for ransom, including US soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who was released in 2014.
Known for their independence, fighting acumen, and savvy business dealings, the Haqqanis are mainly based in eastern Afghanistan and hold considerable sway over the Taliban’s leadership council.
Mullah Yaqoob, Acting Defence Minister
The son of Taliban co-founder Mullah Omar, Mullah Yaqoob heads the group’s powerful military commission, which oversaw the vast network of field commanders charged with executing the rebellion.
On Tuesday, he was named as Defence Minister. Yaqoob’s father enjoyed cult-like status as the Taliban leader, and that potent lineage makes him a unifying figure in the movement.
Mawlawi Amir Khan Mutaqi, Acting Foreign Minister
Originally from Paktia province, Mutaqi calls himself a resident of Helmand. Mutaqi served as Minister of Culture and Information during the previous Taliban government, as well as Minister of Education.
Mutaqi was later sent to Qatar and was appointed a member of the peace commission and negotiation team that held talks with the United States.
Neither military commander nor religious leader, according to Taliban sources, Mutaqi is the chair of the Invitation and Guidance Commission, which, during the insurgency, had led efforts to get government officials and other key figures to defect.
In statements and speeches while fighting raged for control of the country, he projected a moderate voice, calling on forces holed up in provincial capitals to talk to the group to avoid fighting in urban areas.
In the weeks after the fall of Kabul, Mutaqi played a similar role with the lone holdout province of Panjshir, calling for a peaceful settlement to hostilities.
A stray bullet from an unidentified operative of South-East security outfit, codenamed Ebube Agu has snuffed life out of the daughter of a traditional ruler in Onicha Igboeze community, in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.
The deceased, said to be the daughter of a traditional ruler, Ezeogo Oshimiri Agwu, Nwukpa, Oshimiri 1 of Onicha, died after the stray bullet allegedly fired by security operative hit her at Onuafor Enuagu where she was selling fruits on Wednesday evening.
Confirming the incident in a Facebook post on Thursday, the monarch said, “Even when it seems the tiger sleeps, it doesn’t imply slumbering. Enyi is attached to whatever and whoever that has it for a reason. Onwo dụdụ ayaa, evụ je kwahụ idei n’ime.. iwee oh. I am saddened. Ma seh ọdụ o dụ. Omere m erinaaa eh.”
A former Ebonyi lawmaker, Linus Okorie, also shared a photo of the deceased person on his Facebook page. He alleged that the shots were fired by an Ebube Agu operative who came with his colleagues to the area to arrest a coffin maker over undisclosed allegations.
He wrote, “This young girl (sic) of about 25, a hard-working youth and daughter of HRH Oshimili Agwu Nwukpa, peacefully plying her legitimate trade of selling fruits at Onuafor Enuagu, Onicha Igboeze; was gruesomely gunned down by reckless ‘security operatives’ this evening. She was hit by bullets from the guns of these goons while attending to her customers in her shop.
“While some say that the reckless shooters were POLICEMEN from Onicha Command Isu, other eyewitnesses insist that they were EBUBEAGU operatives that came in an UNMARKED WHITE HILUX from Isu to arrest a certain COFFIN MAKER for unclear allegations.
“Whichever group is responsible for this crime, it is one attack too many on the peaceful people of Onicha Igboeze; and the atrocity must be fully investigated and prosecuted. For too long and repeatedly now, the peace of Onicha Igboeze has been continuously disrupted by ‘state or quasi state’ operators without justification. We have continually appealed and cautioned that Onicha Igboeze can be very volatile and that no one or authority should find pleasure in putting fire to the fuel of that undesirable volatility; but what do we get?
“In the heat of ‘Unknown Gun Men’ era, an alleged Ebubeagu team shot their way into the same Afor Enuagu harassed villagers, destroyed properties and burnt down a widow’s home without justification. Also, a few Mondays ago, after a murderous attack at Anike Onicha by several gunmen that left about 8 people dead, several others injured, with many vehicles and motorcycles burnt; the same ‘Ebubeagu shooters’ invaded the clan in a hail of bullets to execute a vexatious project of mass arrest of hapless villagers; who were still in deep shock of the day’s attack.
“We are peaceful, but not cowards. The people are long suffering, but not timid. They can be understanding, but not stupid. These unprovoked attacks must stop. No one should take the patience of the people of Onicha Igboeze for weakness or fear. We cannot be the shooting range of Ebubeagu or any trainee security force, or our people the dummies for live potshots.
“All those authorized to bear arms must be people appropriately trained and cleared to do so. The looming danger is that citizens could be pushed to resort to self help, if these unprovoked and unprofessional attacks are not stopped forthwith and the persons involved reined in.
“While calling on the good people of Onicha Igboeze to continue to remain calm and law-abiding, even in the face of this vexation act of murder, government and security agencies must act swiftly to arrest that team that invaded Onicha Igboeze today and snuffed life out of our daughter. They must be brought to justice.
“Meanwhile, both local and state government authorities must intervene with the bereaved family to provide succor and empathy at this point of their grief. Anything short is a call to anarchy. Rest In Peace dear daughter. You shall not die in vain.”
Governors of the South-East state had in April 2021 announced the establishment of Ebube Agu. The outfit was charged with the responsibility to coordinate all the activities of vigilantes in the South-East and check the rising level of insecurity in the region. It was fashioned after the South-West security outfit, Amotekun.
The South-East region has witnessed an increase in insecurity, including attacks on security operatives, their facilities and other critical infrastructure by unknown gunmen. There are also reported cases of banditry, farmers-herders clashes, armed robbery, among others.
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) has warned that the price of a cow could go up as high as N2 million if the Lagos State Government passes the proposed anti-open grazing law.
Maikudi Usman who is the association’s zonal secretary for South-West gave the warning while speaking at the one-day public hearing organised by the state House of Assembly on the anti-open grazing bill in Lagos on Wednesday, September 8.
According to Usman, ranching which is being proposed by the government is quite expensive when compared to open grazing.
“If cattle are bred in one place, the price could go up to about two million naira each. We agreed with some local chiefs in other states that anyone who wants to rear cows in a location should register and should indicate when he is leaving,” he disclosed.
The Miyetti Allah leader added that the best way to breed cattle was to move them from one place to another, saying that they were moved to different places during the rainy and dry season.
Our breeders are not used to breeding cattle in one place. They move from here to another place. When we say we will keep cattle in one place, the owner of the cattle will not have funds to feed the animals in one place.”he said
An assistant director of the National Biotechnology Development Agency, Christopher Orji, has allegedly committed suicide in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He was, until his death, the coordinator of the agency’s Bioresource Centre in the Langtang Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the lifeless body of the deceased was found dangling with a rope tied to a ceiling fan at his residence in the Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, at about 4pm on August 30.
Police homicide detectives were said to have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
It was further learnt that the deceased had been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to report at its Abuja office on the day he was found dead.
However, one of the staff of the agency, who pleaded anonymity, said Orji could not have killed himself as no suicide note was found at his residence.
The Taliban on Tuesday announced a team of hardliners into its interim government in Afghanistan with key government roles shared among veterans of the militant group and its allies in the United States-sanctioned Haqqani Network.
The composition of the interim government was announced at a press conference by one of the group’s spokesmen in Kabul, the country’s capital.
Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, a long-time Taliban member and a leader of the group’s Shura or Leadership Council for about two decades, was named the Prime Minister.
Akhund is seen as an influential member of the Taliban and highly respected on the religious side of the movement.
Mullah Baradar, the head of the Taliban’s political bureau, who led the Taliban delegation in peace talks in Qatar, was named the Deputy Prime Minister.
Two senior figures in the Haqqani Network were also named in the interim government with Sirajuddin Haqqani, the network’s leader, was appointed as the acting Interior Minister.
Haqqani has been one of Taliban’s two deputy leaders since 2016 and has a $10 million US bounty on his head.

Armed bandits stormed the Isa Kaita College of Education in Dutsinma, Katsina State and abducted the children of Dr Isma’il Ado Funtua, the deputy provost of the institution.
A source close to Ado Funtua, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust said the bandits invaded the campus and broke into the deputy provost’s residence around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, September 6.
“Around 11:30 pm on Monday, four heavily armed terrorists entered the school premises and broke into the residence of the Deputy Provost of the college, Dr Isma’il Ado Funtua, where they abducted three of his children,” the source, who pleaded anonymity, said.
“When they arrived, his gateman was not around. They removed the padlock on the door and entered the house. While they were there, the gateman returned and they asked him about his boss and he said he was not around.
“They went into the parlour and met the young men who were reading. They kidnapped the gateman alongside three of the children, Usman, Aminu and Abdullahi, while the fourth young man was able to sneak out.”
The source added, however, that on their way, the kidnappers released the gateman and went away with the man’s children.
Following last week’s announcement of a partnership agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation, Air Peace chairman, Allen Onyema has promised to give the Super Eagles N20 million if they beat Cape Verde in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash.
Onyema made the promise in a video shared on the social media page of the Super Eagles, while also calling on all Nigerians to continue to support the country’s football team in their quest to gain a ticket ahead of the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.
Onyema said, “If you win this match, I am going to give the team N20 million on arrival. I’ll bring the cash and hand it over.
“This will serve as a stepping stone in unifying our Nation. Go there and die for the country.
“You won your first match resoundingly, and we expect that the one happening in Cape Verde in 24hours time will not be different.
“Gentlemen, why I came to the airport at this time of the day 2 am to address is because of this. You are not just going to play football. You’re going to carry on your young shoulders the aspirations and the hopes of a Nation. You must help us in restoring hope to this country.
“Nigeria is a great country with so much potentials to achieve. We are yet to get there. We may have our differences but we love ourselves.
“We knew some of our players have to leave after the match and they had to do well before leaving because they cannot go to Cape Verde.”
The Super Eagles will continue their journey towards qualification for the World Cup against Cape Verde this evening after their resounding victory in their previous match against Liberia.
The team however would be without their key players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and William Troost-Ekong due to Covid restriction in the United Kingdom.
Ex-housemate, Boma Akpore disclosed his reasons for having amorous moments with the married housemate, Tega while he was in the house.
Speaking with the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Boma noted that he never planned to snatch Tega away from her husband nor did he have negative intentions as regards her marriage. He held that he and Tega just noticed the house was boring, so they decided to light it up with their romantic moments, but unfortunately, it seems the audience was against it.
“Tega was the boys’ favourite. She will make daring jokes, we felt she was better than most girls because we felt girls were lying that they were single.
“I and Tega saw that the house was boring, people were always sleeping, so we decided to give the viewers a show. We felt we could be a standard performer. “I did not feel I should step back because she was married but now I see. It is late, I am human but my intention was not to take a married woman away from her husband.” Boma said
The governor disclosed this on Monday while inaugurating a committee on monitoring and enforcement of security challenges (Containment) order he recently signed at the Government House.
The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, says his administration is considering the need to shut down telecoms services in some Local Government Areas as part of fresh measures to contain banditry in the state.
The governor disclosed this on Monday while inaugurating a committee on monitoring and enforcement of security challenges (Containment) order he recently signed at the Government House.
The affected LGAs are Funtua, Bakori and Malumfashi. Masari, also announced the ban of commercial mobile phone charging points in 19 out of 34 LGA, saying, “We believe it’s also an area that is helping the bandits to acquire means of communication.”
He explained that the security measures taken by the state government would affect residents economically but it was necessary to take them in order to restore normalcy and stop bandits and their collaborators from having access to communication and other means of livelihood.
“We believe with this and other further measures that we are taking with the Federal Ministry of Communication, would also help in restoring normalcy to our respective communities.
“Further instructions and directives affecting Funtua, Malumfashi and Bakori Local Government Areas are coming today (Monday). We have to restrict the sale of fuel in these local governments as well. And we are looking at the possibility of curbing further communications in these local governments.
“The security measures taken by the state government might hurt residents economically but it is necessary to take this now to forestall worse situation if these bandits and their collaborators are allowed free access to communication and other means of livelihood.
“It is important we realise that our number one enemies are informants. So, we must tackle and deal with them in accordance with the law.”
This is coming few days after the Zamfara State Government ordered all telecom operators to shut down their networks in the state.

Former France international defender, Jean-Pierre Adams has died at the age of 73. Adams spent the last 39 years in a coma following an anaesthesia error at Lyon Hospital as part of a routine knee operation he undertook at the age of 34 on March 17, 1982.
He was confirmed to have died on Monday morning at Nimes University Hospital. Back in 1982, after suffering a ligament rupture injury, the former Nice and Paris Saint-Germain centre-back had routine knee surgery but an error from the anaesthetist starved his brain of oxygen and he slipped into a coma. Adams, who had two sons to his wife, Laurent and Frédéric, had had a problem with the anesthesia and the doctor operating on his knee is reported to have been working on eight patients concurrently.
Jean-Pierre Adams
Adam’s life was turned upside down following the botched operation. He spent over half his life in a coma and throughout that time, he was supported by his incredibly loyal wife Bernadette. Speaking last year, she told CNN: “No one ever forgets to give Jean-Pierre presents, whether it’s his birthday, Christmas or Father’s Day.” The former France international spent the majority of his day in a modified bed. Despite his health, Bernadette continued to gift her husband with presents, including clothes and aftershave.
“We buy presents like a T-shirt or a jumper because I dress him in his bed – he changes clothes every day,” she added. “I’ll buy things so that he can have a nice room, such as pretty sheets, or some scent. He used to wear Paco Rabanne but his favorite one stopped so now I buy Sauvage by Dior.” ‘It’s all fine, I’m in great shape,’ he reportedly said to his wide Bernadette on the morning of the operation in what proved to be his final words. In a statement, PSG said Adams’ “joie de vivre, charisma and experience commanded respect”.
Nice said the club would pay tribute to Adams – who won 22 caps for France between 1972-1976 – before their next home game against Monaco on 19 September. Adams also made 84 appearances for Nimes, who said they were sending their “most sincere condolences to his loved ones and his family”.
Former South African President, Jacob Zuma, has been released from prison on medical parole due to ill health, officials of the country’s correctional services department said on Sunday.
The 79-year-old Zuma has been serving a 15-month prison sentence since July for contempt of court after defying a summons to appear at an inquiry into corruption during his time in office.
A statement by the spokesperson of South Africa‘s Department of Correctional Services (DCS), said: “Medical parole placement for Mr Zuma means that he will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections, whereby he must comply with a specific set of conditions and will be subjected to supervision until his sentence expires.”
Last month, Zuma was admitted to an outside hospital where he underwent surgeries for an undisclosed ailment, according to prison authorities.
The DCS said it was “impelled” to grant Zuma medical parole after receiving a medical report.
“Apart from being terminally ill and physically incapacitated, inmates suffering from an illness that severely limits their daily activity or self-care can also be considered for medical parole,” the statement said.
The DCS appealed to South Africans “to afford Mr Zuma dignity as he continues to receive medical treatment.”
Zuma served as president from 2009 to 2018 and was once widely celebrated as a key figure in the country’s liberation movement.
But his nine years in power were marred with allegations of high-level corruption, which he has repeatedly denied.
Zuma is accused of corruption involving three businessmen close to him — brothers Atul, Ajay and Rajesh Gupta — and allowing them to influence government policy, including the hiring and firing of ministers to align with the family’s business interests.
