Woman discovers her ‘husband’ is actually a female con artist 10 months into marriage.

A woman only found out that her husband was a woman in disguise 10 months after their wedding day.

The 22-year-old woman, who has been identified by her initials NA, shared her story on social media after the case made headlines.

It comes after the accused, who is referred to by their initials AA, appeared before the Jambi District Court in Indonesia on Tuesday, June 14.

The victim claimed that she matched with the scammer on a dating app in May 2021.

The accused pretended to be a male US-trained surgeon and a coal businessman that recently converted to Islam and was looking for a wife.

The victim believed him and married him three months later in a nikah siri arrangement, which is recognized by religion but not by the state.

They were unable to have a state-sanctioned wedding as the groom was unable to present the civil documents required.

The newlyweds lived in the victim’s parents’ house for several months. During this time, her parents became suspicious because AA kept asking for money and couldn’t provide any proof of his impressive credentials.

However, the swindler’s family members and friends always backed his career claims, according to Coconuts.

To avoid further questioning, the con artist took the bride away from her family to Lahat, South Sumatra, Indonesia.

While there, she was then confined to the house for several months and prohibited from interacting with anyone else. Her “husband” also controlled their finances

In April NA’s concerned mother contacted Jambi Police who tracked down the pair in Lahat.

During police interrogation, AA was revealed to be a woman whose real name bears the initials EY.

During the 10 months of their marriage, the family claimed that they were scammed out of IDR 300 million, the equivalent of £16,537.

After being quizzed on social media about their sex life, the victim said her “husband” would always turn off the lights and blindfold her before sex.

The con artist told the police that she used her hands to pleasure her wife, but the victim said she was certain that EY used penetrative sexual devices during their lovemaking.

NA also claimed that EY attempted to murder her by telling her to jump into a river despite knowing that she can’t swim.

The victim’s parents reported EY to the authorities for educational record fraud, which may be the first of many charges against her and for which she may face up to 10 years in prison.

The trial is ongoing at the Jambi District Court.

I want new tanker and not national honour – Man who drove a tanker of fire and saved a Delta community from explosion says.

Ejiro Otarigho, the driver who drove a burning fuel tanker away from a community in Delta state has disclosed that he needs a new vehicle.

Speaking after the senate asked President Buhari to confer him with a “befitting national honour as he may deem fit for his extraordinary act of bravery, courage and skill that prevented the loss of human lives and property on a massive scale”, Ejiro said it’s not been easy since losing the tanker as it was the only way he fed.

He also told Punch that the thought of hundreds of lives and property engulfing in flames as a result of the tanker fire, gave him the spunk to drive the truck to a location where there will be no disaster.

Ejiro said;

“I have received calls from them (Delta state government) but I am not interested in any national honour of any sort right now.

“I know God has brought me to a good place where my story is now being told. All I want is a replacement for my burnt tanker so I can go back to my job.
“I have just been at home and truck driving was the only way I fed. It has not been easy for me since I lost my tanker.”

When asked if he would like to get a new job and abandon the dangerous business of tanker driving, he said;

“of course, I will. It is a risky job.
“Imagine if I had died that day, nothing would have been said of me. If the government has something better for me, I will do it without looking back. All I want is to be able to take care of myself and my family legitimately.”

NLC offers free medical services to Abuja community residents.

Nigeria Labour Congress, in
partnership with the International Labour Organisation, offered free medical services to residents of Ndakwo community, beside Sunny Vale, Abuja on Saturday.

The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, told newsmen that the essence of the outreach was to give back to the society and carry out part of the congress’s social responsibility.
Represented by Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, FCT Chapter, Deborah Yusuf, Wabba said the outreach was the fifth in FCT.
He said, “NLC is standing in for Nigerian workers, and then in collaboration with ILO, this is a special outreach; this is the fifth time we are organising community outreach, it is all about giving back to the society.

“It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibilities. We have workers everywhere, we are trying to give back to them, including their relations.

“This outreach is very important and it is coming at this particular period not because of anything but we learnt that the people really need medical assistance.”
Wabba said that they had various stations for registration and screening for HIV/AIDS, adding that it was important that people knew their HIV status.

He added that the group also educates people about knowing their HIV status, negative or positive, and to know that being positive is not a death sentence.
According to him, if anyone turns out positive, NLC will take the person to a referral centre and follow-up so that the person will be placed on drugs and necessary investigations.

Buttigieg: US may act against airlines on consumers’ behalf.

The day after Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg met with airline leaders to quiz them about widespread flight disruptions, his own flight was canceled and he wound up driving from Washington to New York.

“That is happening to a lot of people, and that is exactly why we are paying close attention here to what can be done and how to make sure that the airlines are delivering,” Buttigieg told The Associated Press in an interview Saturday.

Buttigieg said he is pushing the airlines to stress-test their summer schedules to ensure they can operate all their planned flights with the employees they have, and to add customer-service workers. That could put pressure on airlines to make additional cuts in their summer schedules.

Buttigieg said his department could take enforcement actions against airlines that fail to live up to consumer-protection standards. But first, he said, he wants to see whether there are major flight disruptions over the July Fourth holiday weekend and the rest of the summer.

Enforcement actions can results in fines, although they tend to be small. Air Canada agreed to pay a $2 million fine last year over slow refunds.

During Thursday’s virtual meeting, airline executives described steps they are taking to avoid a repeat of the Memorial Day weekend, when about 2,800 flights were canceled. “Now we’re going to see how those steps measure up,” Buttigieg said.

Travel is back. On Friday, more than 2.4 million people passed through security checkpoints at U.S. airports, coming within about 12,500 of breaking the pandemic-era high recorded on the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year.

The record surely would have been broken had airlines not canceled 1,400 flights, many of them because thunderstorms hit parts of the East Coast. A day earlier, airlines scrubbed more than 1,700 flights, according to tracking service FlightAware.

Weather is always a wild card when it comes to flying in summer, but airlines have also acknowledged staffing shortages as travel roared back faster than expected from pandemic lows. Airlines are scrambling to hire pilots and other workers to replace employees whom they encouraged to quit after the pandemic hit.

It takes months to hire and train a pilot to meet federal safety standards, but the Transportation Department sees no reason the airlines cannot immediately add customer-service representatives to help passengers rebook if their flight is canceled.

The government has its own staffing challenges.

Shortages at the Federal Aviation Administration, part of Buttigieg’s department, have contributed to flight delays in Florida. The FAA promises to increase staffing there. The Transportation Security Administration, an agency within the Department of Homeland Security, has created a roving force of 1,000 screeners who can be dispatched to airports where checkpoint lines get too long.

Two killed in Sikh temple attack in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul.

A Taliban fighter (L) looks out from a damaged window while standing guard following an attack at a Sikh temple in Kabul on June 18, 2022.

Gunmen launched an attack on a Sikh Gurdwara in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Saturday, killing at least two people, Kabul police chief spokesman Khalid Zadran said.

Seven attackers tried to storm the temple in the early hours of Saturday morning, throwing grenades at security guards who were standing at the entrance. The attackers also detonated a car bomb in the area but no casualties were reported from the explosion.

All seven gunmen were killed after a standoff that lasted several hours inside the temple’s compound, Zadran said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The attack killed a member of the security forces and a Sikh worshiper, according to state-run news agency Bakhtar.

Temple official Gornam Singh told Reuters that 30 people were inside the temple at the time of the attack. “We don’t know how many of them are alive or how many dead,” he said, adding that temple authorities were at a loss at what to do as the Taliban were not allowing them inside.

The Governor stressed that the forces on the other side are evil, assuring that they will not triumph forever.

The Governor noted that something must be done in the country, adding that the Security architecture of the nation needs rejigging.

“When I see the sea of heads that are here it speaks volumes. What has happened to us in Owo in Ondo state is indescribable. A lot of words are used to qualify it. Dastardly, horrendous. But I still believe there are words to use to describe it but I still short of those words.

“We have just 22 (deceased) in this hall. A few of them have been buried. Because the relatives couldn’t wait till today. But as at the last count, these animals came to the church and murdered 40 people.” Governor Akeredolu said.

“You didn’t fail. You are a strong soldier. Your determination to protect those who voted you into power is unquestionable. This was done by cowards. You have tried your best.”Bishop Arogundade said.

Bishop Arogundade wondered why the people of the country need to beg for state police, despite the endless attack and killings.

46 new cases of monkeypox have been announced in the UK today, bringing the total to 574, with Brits being urged to look out for any new rashes or blisters.

There are currently 550 confirmed cases in England, 16 in Scotland, 2 in Northern Ireland and 6 in Wales.

In recent weeks around 1,600 cases have been detected globally – something experts say is “concerning”, The Sun reports.

A report by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) last week revealed that most cases have been in men who are gay, bisexual or men who have sex with men.

Dr William Welfare, Incident Director at UKHSA, said: “As case numbers of monkeypox continue to rise and with many summer events and festivals ahead, we’re reminding people to be aware of the symptoms of monkeypox, particularly if you’ve recently had new or multiple sexual partners, to help prevent further spread and protect others.

“If you have a rash with blisters, or any other monkeypox symptoms, don’t go to events, meet with friends or have sexual contact.”

Woman eaten by her 20 pet cats after she collapsed.

A woman was eaten by her 20 cats after she collapsed at her home and was not discovered by police for two weeks.

Police were alerted by one of the woman’s employees who said she could not contact her boss.

When police arrived at the home in Bataysk, Rostov region, Russia, they found the partially eaten remains of the woman with the hungry cats surrounding her.

Police believe she had been dead for two weeks as they probed her decomposing remains.

“The cats were left alone on their own for two weeks, there was no food, so what else to eat?” said one animal rescue expert who cared for some of the surviving cats.

“It’s understandable right? They ate what there was.”

The cats have now been given to new owners for just £29 each.

Studies have found that cat owners who die at home risk being eaten alive by their hungry pets.
