Former militant commander and head of the Biafra Customary Government (BCG) Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, has taunted the leader of the Igbo separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, over his re-arrest and repatriation to Nigeria by the Federal Government.
In a video on Sunday, the leader of the Niger Delta People Salvation Force (NDPSF), who had earlier fallen out with Kanu and vowed to bring him down, said he was going to destroy Kanu’s “evil empire”.
In the 10 minutes video, Dokubo boasted that he had promised to smoke out Kanu wherever he was hiding and had achieved that by the arrest of the dissident.
Nnamdi Kanu, I promised you I would smoke you out. You never started your madness, but now you’re bringing it, so the market’s closed and you’re gone. You have harmed Biafrans and traded with us so much,” he said.
“You collected our money in the name of defence funds and you have not been able to account for it.
“You want all Biafrans to pay you money on a monthly basis or they won’t be allowed into Biafra. Isn’t that making you a conman, an extortionist?
You claimed you gave me N20 million, but the video does not lie. It was so cowardly of you not to respond to my statement last year leading up to the election.
“I demanded the evidence that I demanded N20 million from you after you sent your followers to respond to me and they said a lot of things.
“I am not a member of IPOB, you gave me N20 million, tell us was it a bank transfer, was it cash, who brought it to me? I’m waiting for you. Produce the proof.
“I can’t run away from my land because they will overrun it. I am not like you Ben Johnson… I fought all the way to the Supreme Court. My record is in the Supreme Court, you can check it”, he said
The Lagos State Government has inspected facilities at the Synagogue Church of All Nations for COVID safety and prevention protocols compliance in preparation for the funeral of its late founder, Prophet Temitope Joshua.
The delegation from the Lagos State Government was led by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola.
Speaking after the inspection of the church facilities and meeting with the church officials, Abayomi said the inspection was in line with the third wave mitigation strategy of the Lagos State Government to prevent the importation and spread of new deadly strains of COVID into Lagos and Nigeria.
Abayomi added that the inspection and meeting with officials of SCOAN was to limit any possibilities of the introduction of foreign COVID variants among the congregation and by extension to the community.
He said, “On behalf of the Lagos State Government we want to offer our deep condolences to the family of the prophet and members of the congregation. In these very precarious times that we are in, with a global pandemic that is evolving dynamically; what we now know is that there are different strains of the virus circulating around the world, and Lagos State has a very strong third wave prevention strategy.
“The likely cause of a third wave is going to be an importation from visitors who are infected with the virus, so we are particularly careful about working with the Synagogue to make sure that we have a collaboration that will reduce the opportunity to zero of us either importing a virus or even allowing someone who is positive to interact with the community.
“So we have had series of engagements with the officials and executive of SCOAN, we are also in touch with the Federal Government; the Presidential Steering Committee, and the Federal Ministry of Health.
“And the Incident Commander, Governor has said that this a priority event and we have to ensure that we give SCOAN all the support it requires to make sure that the series of planned events for the funeral scheduled between the 5th of July to the 11th of July are performed under the strictness guidelines to limit any possibilities of introduction of foreign COVID variants amongst the congregation or the movement of the virus in such an environment that would make transmission easier.
“So, we’ve engaged with several stakeholders, we are looking at the airport, we are looking at the land borders, we are looking at event preceding the five or seven days of the funeral, we are looking at the funeral activities itself, we have a detailed account of the programme, we are putting some guidelines in place.
“Any visitor coming into the country has to go through the mandatory seven days of isolation plus testing before they can participate in any of the activities. We’ve inspected all the accommodation, we’ve looked at the auditorium and we’ve calculated how to completely eliminate the chance and the risk of infectious transmission.”
Solicitor to Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho has demanded N500 million as compensation from the Federal Government for the losses incurred by his client after the raid on Igboho’s house by men of the Department of State Services (DSS). The DSS operatives stormed the activist’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday.
The agency’s spokesman later issued a statement confirming the raid, disclosing that two of Igboho’s aides were killed and ammunition, charms and other exhibits allegedly retrieved from his residence.
But, in a letter addressed to the Federal Government by Igboho’s lawyer, Yomi Alliyu (SAN) of Chief Yomi Alliyu & Co, on Saturday, the counsel demanded N500 million as reparation for damage done by the DSS’ officers to his client’s exotic cars which included Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus car.
He stated that the DSS carted away €1,000, N2 million, expensive jewellery worth millions, travel documents, amulets, Igboho’s iPhone 12 and phones of about 15 others living in the house including those killed by the officers and other yet-to-be-identified belongings.
He wrote, “We hereby demand that the Federal Government orders an investigation into the actions of the various security operatives led by DSS that raided Chief Sunday Adeyemo’s house with a view to sanctioning them and release all the innocent people arrested and compensate the families of those murdered. Our client should also be paid N500m as reparation for damage to his exotic cars that include Mercedes Benz G-Class and 2019 Lexus car. We also demand a public apology.’’
The lawyer further said every Nigerian was aware that in all of Igboho’s rallies and open agitations for the self-determination of the Yoruba Nation, he always preached peace and warned his followers never to resort to violence.
He added, “He always said that It is God and alale that will fight for the Yoruba Nation. We can boldly say that as people who followed his campaign, but not necessarily supporting dismemberment of Nigeria, that no casualty has ever occurred wherever such rallies were carried out. This must have been done in more than 20 Yoruba towns and cities as at date.
“No demand to enter was made but rather they shot their way into the house allegedly killing seven people though DSS spokesman admitted killing two people which involved an old Imam that used to lead Muslim occupants in prayers and observing Tahjud at the time of the barbaric raid. A lady among the invaders was allegedly shouting, ‘If you get him gun him down.'”
Alliyu also alleged that the operatives were disappointed that they couldn’t find a single gun or ammunition in his client’s house, hence arrested two police escorts of Igboho’s guests and added their “guns to those harvested from their armoury to make members of the public believe that our client keeps militia or as stated by them, he is about waging war on Nigeria. Will this be with his mere amulets? People who know our client of over 20 years will testify that Igboho oosa does not carry gun on his person!’’ Igboho’s Lawyer Demands N500 Million For Damage Done By Department Of State Services To Client’s Property.

The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, has ruled in favour of Adenike Ogunshe, a senior lecturer at the University of Ibadan, who was dismissed by the school’s governing council in 2016 over her refusal to vacate an office space. The judgement was delivered by Justice J. D. Peters of the court on June 24, 2021.
Ogunshe had in September 2016 instituted a suit against the university and its governing council after her appointment as a senior lecturer was terminated.
From the judgement, it was stated that Ogunshe was directed by her Head of Department to vacate her office, which is said to be a ‘preparatory room’ for the final year laboratory.
She, however, refused to comply with this directive arguing that there were many other offices in the annex but only hers was labelled ‘a preparatory laboratory’.
It was also stated that the department provided her with another office but with claims of threat to life, she refused to move to the office.
The court, in its ruling on June 24, however, held that the defendants — the university and her governing council — had failed to comply with the applicable rules and regulations guiding the employment relationship relating to termination as stated in the university’s staff information handbook of rules and regulations.
The court also held that the ’employment of a staff (member) with statutory flavour who has been found guilty of misconduct cannot be terminated by the employer as presented in this case without full compliance with the established disciplinary procedure’.
Hence, the court ordered the immediate reinstatement of Ogunshe to her position as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology.
It also held that the university should pay her a sum of N13, 607, 028.08 as salary arrears of the claimant from August 15, 2016 to the date of the judgement.
The defendants were also ordered to pay Ogunshe N200, 000 as the cost of the legal proceedings.
At least three children were seriously injured in an explosion that rocked the Badarawa community in Kaduna North Local Government Area on Saturday.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, who confirmed the incident, said the blast occurred when the children were playing in the community.
He said one of the victims lost two his hands in the incident.
A few days after defecting from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has fired all his Special Advisers.
This was contained in a statement signed by the acting Secretary to the State Government and Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, and made available to Ripples Nigeria on Sunday.
In the statement, Balarabe, however, said the Special Adviser on Security, DIG Mamman Tsafe (Rtd) was not affected by the development.
It is hereby notified for general information that Gov. Bello Matawalle, has relieved all Special Advisers of their appointments, except the Special Adviser on Security matters.
“This decision is in line with the recent defection to the APC and to allow for an in-depth search of more but competent hands in the administration of the state, irrespective of political affiliations,” he said.
The statement also directed all the affected Special Advisers to hand over affairs of their respective offices, and government property under them to their Directors General and/or Accounting officers.
Ripples Nigeria had earlier reported how Matawalle in February, sacked all Commissioners, Special Advisers and Directors-General, but re-appointed some of them in April.
The umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, has alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services, during the raid on the Ibadan residence of Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), shot at one of Igboho’s associate, Adogan 48 times before butchering him to death.
In a statement shared with SaharaReporters by Olayomi Koiki, Igboho’s media aide, the Ilana Omo Oodua group led by historian, Banji Akintoye, claimed that the DSS operatives shot Saheed Adisa, popularly called Adogan, 48 times and when the bullets failed, a mortar was used to kill the young man.
It read, “This is the face of a true warrior. His name is Adogan. He took 48 bullets to his body and was still standing like a fearless Ikoyi Eso. When shots failed the DSS, they had to slam a mortal on his head, butchering him to death.
“While DSS operatives were butchering Adogan, Majasola Igboho Oosa (May peace and blessings of Eedua always be with him) had made his exit to fight another day.
“It was said that the DSS so brutally decapitated Adogan’s body that they were ashamed to leave his body behind. They whisked his body away, but his blood trailed them from Chief Igboho’s living room to the DSS headquarters in Abuja. Trust me; we will take our revenge. RIP my good brother! No going back on the Yoruba nation. Lagos rally goes on, as planned, tomorrow. Ifa Dare.”
It was gathered that Adogan was killed alongside Igboho’s maternal uncle, known as Alfa.
Koiki also said, “One of them was shot by the DSS while a bullet did not kill the other person, they tried shooting at him, but he was not affected, so they butchered him. They killed him in cold blood.”
Recall that the DSS confirmed the attack on Igboho’s house, stating that they killed two allies of the Yoruba rights activist during the invasion of his residence in Ibadan, Oyo state.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead defence counsel to the re-arrested leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has indicted the Kenyan government, saying his client was arrested and detained for eight days by the country’s Special Police Force, before being handed over to security operatives from Nigeria.
The lawyer made the claim on Friday night shortly after his team was permitted by the Department of State Service (DSS) to meet Kanu, adding, that his client was arrested in Kenya on June 18.
It would be recalled that the Kenyan government in a statement on Friday responded to claims that it collaborated with the Nigerian government in the arrest and repatriation of the IPOB leader, denying the allegations as “unfounded”.
Kenyan Ambassador to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, had in a statement in Abuja accused the Nigerian media of linking President Uhuru Kenyatta, to the sting operation allegedly carried out by “Nigerian Intelligence” in the East Africa country.
The ambassador described the reports as “spurious, derogatory and libellous deliberately concocted to fuel antagonistic feelings among certain sections of the Nigerian people.”
Furthermore, he challenged anyone with facts relating to the “when, where, who and how it particularly involved in the alleged arrest” to come forward with them.
The Nigerian government has also kept mum as to where and how the IPOB leader was arrested and returned to Nigeria to face trial.
However, speaking in a statement released on his Facebook page on Friday night, Ejiofor, said Kanu was tortured and subjected to various inhuman treatment in Kenya, noting that the incident had worsened his client’s health condition.
The statement titled ‘Update on meeting with MNK today, 2nd July 2021’, read: “My Client – Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was actually abducted by accursed Kenya’s Special Police Force on the 18th of June 2021 at their International Airport, and consequently taken to an undisclosed residence under dehumanising conditions.
He was tortured and subjected to all forms of inhuman treatment which worsened his health condition. He was illegally detained for eight (8) good DAYS in Kenya before being transferred to their Nigerian counterpart.
“He was purportedly investigated on a bogus charge while in their custody, ostensibly, awaiting to be handed over after their findings proved him innocent of all the spurious allegations. They later beckoned on their Nigerian Counterpart to take over.
Kenyan Government was deeply involved in the abduction, detention, and ill-treatment of my Client before the illegal handover to their Nigerian counterpart.
“A scan of his heart showed that the heart has enlarged by 13 per cent due to the dehumanising treatment meted to him. There is a need for immediate proper medical examination and attention for him.
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu conveyed his goodwill message to all IPOB family members worldwide and craved for your unrelentless prayers. We are going back to the Court for the needful. Other details cannot be entertained here.
His fortified legal team will address these infractions at the proper forum as we progress. Other details on our legal strategy may not be made public. With Chukwuokike Abiama on our side, Victory is assured. For if God Almighty be for us, who can be against us?”
Ejiofor had earlier on Friday, disclosed that the DSS had agreed to the request by Kanu’s legal team to have an audience with him.
He had disclosed the development in a post on social media, saying, “Update. Thankfully, our effort is yielding the desired result. We have just received a communication approving our visit to our client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Shall keep the world posted on the outcome, immediately after the meeting, later in the Day. God is with us.”
An aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has blasted the Federal Government over its he described as dishonesty in the handling of bandit activities and secessionist agitations in the country.
Omokri made this statement on Saturday via a post on his Facebook page in the wake of the confrontation between police operatives and agitators of the Yoruba Nation at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos.
He said, “Imagine a government that says that bandits and killer herdsmen can be tolerated even though they kill Nigerians, as long as they believe in one Nigeria, but Sunday Igboho cannot be tolerated because he does not believe in Nigeria even though he doesn’t kill Nigerians.
Indeed, I am impressed that Igboho’s rally was still held, despite desperate attempts by the Buhari junta to stop it. Sunday Igboho is a hero.
“He has done no wrong by protecting his people from killer herdsmen because Article 51 of the United Nations charter gives him that right.
“He and his supporters also have a right of freedom of association, and I commend them for utilising that right in the face of obvious attempts to intimidate them”
One of Sunday Igboho’s close aides, has narrated what ensued during the raid on the Yoruba freedom fighter’s Soka residence by operatives of the Department of State Security, (DSS), and army.
He described the raid as a commando operation and disclosed how Igboho, sensing the mission of his assailants was to kill him, entered a room and disappeared.
While speaking with Vanguard, the aide, who craved anonymity, said the operation was like a movie scene in the early hours of Thursday, as operatives of the DSS and army descended on the building with a mission not known to the occupants.
According to him, the unexpected visitors, who dressed in army camouflage and military attire, entered into the compound to meet their hosts unprepared.
He said the assailants came in five army branded Hilux vehicles and forcefully gained entry by killing one of the bodyguards of Igboho, named Adogan.
In his words: “When they arrived at about 1:35 am on Thursday, they scaled the fence and opened fire. We just heard sporadic gunshots all around the main house during which they killed one of the bodyguards of Sunday Igboho named Adogan.
“Sensing the gunmen had gained entry, he (Igboho) himself engaged them in a shootout when he realised they had already killed some of his boys.
“Before the gunmen made their way into the inner rooms. There was a lady in a mask who led them in. She was calling occupants of the house by their names. That is to show that an insider gave them the information they relied on.
The lady started shouting the names of close aides of Igboho, she asked them to kill every living thing sighted on the premises. They killed his Alfa while praying.
“They took away about N3m from his (Igboho’s) room as well as his jewelry. The assailants killed five persons and took away their corpses. Some ladies, who are wives of chief’s aides, were also taken away. They took away the CCTV box so that we won’t playback.
“While Igboho escaped, out of the hanger, they whisked away one of his wives and 13 other aides including one of his bloggers named Lady K.
When Sunday Igboho found out they were there to kill him, he had to enter another room and disappeared. We can’t tell his whereabouts as I am speaking with you. The gun duel lasted an hour.”
A street trader was on Saturday killed by stray bullet at the Yoruba Nation rally which held in the Ojota area of Lagos state.
The protest, which started with singing and chanting, got rowdy as security operatives fired live rounds to disperse crowds, killing the young girl and wounding several people.
A picture of the trader who appeared to be in her trading shop when she was fatally hit has been circulating on social media.
The Punch reports that she was only 14-year-old. The lifeless body of the girl was crowded by sympathisers at the scene.
A resident who pleaded anonymity told The Nation, when the protest went rowdy, the girl was about to open the shop when the stray bullet hit her.
Police visited the scene of the incident, and took her dead body away.
A spokesman for the police in Lagos did not immediately return People’s Gazette request seeking comment about the fatal shooting.
Yoruba nation agitators, on Saturday, announced their presence at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos State, as they appeared in cultural regalia synonymous with African traditional religion.
The separatists hold the rally for the secession of the South-West geopolitical zone despite repeated warnings by security operatives.
The agitators led by Professor Banji Akintoye Ilana Oodua group had held similar rallies in other states in the South-West.
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the raid on the country home of the Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called ‘Igboho’, by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), describing the incident as “barbaric” and “unacceptable”.
Ripples Nigeria reported that the DSS had in the early hours of Thursday, July 1, raided Igboho’s residence at the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State, after which they allegedly recovered some arms and ammunitions, and also paraded some members of the group as suspects.
In a statement on Friday by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group said the attack was an “act of impunity”.
The statement read, “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu condemn the recent attack and massacre of peaceful and unarmed citizens of Odua people in the House of Sunday Ighoho at his country home in Ibadan Oyo state.
“Sunday Igboho has not killed anybody. The Nigerian government and her security operatives invaded his home and kidnapped his innocent women in the house for the proposed rally in Lagos on Saturday 4th of July 2021.
“Fulani and their collaborators are trying to bring catastrophe in Nigeria. They are trying to plunge Nigeria into a serious crisis that will consume everybody. They should stop taking the indigenous nations in Nigeria for granted. Enough of this impunity!”
The group declared solidarity for Igboho and the Yoruba nation agitators, saying that its members across the world are solidly behind Sunday Igboho and the Odua Nation Movement.
The attack on Igboho is akin to the attack they unleashed on the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi on September 14, 2017, when the military Python danced in his country home.
“It’s very appalling that the Nigeria security agencies are aiding and abating criminal Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other terror groups to kill innocent citizens in Nigeria while suppressing those genuinely defending their people.
“Nigeria will soon regret their actions towards the Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt region. The whole southerners in the army, police, DSS, and the security outfit in Nigeria must understand that this fight was brought to their homes by Fulani Jihadists. Nobody should think that things are still normal. Very soon all Christians will be forced to convert to Islam. It’s part of their agenda.
But IPOB is working tirelessly to stop this evil agenda. And we must do it for the betterment of unborn children in this land. Now is the time for the entire Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt to unite and defend their ancestral land otherwise we become slaves to the jihadists. But God forbid!” the statement added.
Meanwhile, IPOB is still saddled with its challenges, as it has had its share of the Federal Government’s wrath.
Ripples Nigeria reported that the intelligence unit of the Nigerian security operatives recently re-arrested the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who jumped bail in 2017 and left the country
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has revealed why he withdrew his 7-year-old son, Abubakar Al-Sadiq El-Rufai, from Kaduna Capital school, one year after he enrolled him in one of northern Nigeria’s oldest public schools to make public education attractive in the state.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, El-Rufai said his son had been targeted by bandits because of the governor’s public stand against the payment of ransom to bandits.
El-Rufai revealed that it was the first time he was addressing the issue but added that his daughter, Nesrin had also been enrolled in the school when she turned six.
He said even though there was no threat to Nesrin, both children had been removed from the school on the advice of security agencies so as not to jeopardize the safety of other children.
My son and my daughter are registered in the school because his sister became six and we had to register her.
“But we have had to temporarily withdraw them for the security of the school because we got intercepts from at least two groups that are planning to attack the school to kidnap my son.
I don’t think they will succeed because there will be enough security there to prevent it but other children may be placed in danger.
“We have no idea what weapons they will come with. I have taken a stand against paying bandits and at least three groups of bandits have been intercepted planning to go to Kaduna Capital school and kidnap my son and ‘see if they catch my son, I go say I no go pay ransom?’” the governor said
He assured that his decision was purely based on the safety of other children in the school, adding that he had enrolled his son in the school to prove to the people of Kaduna State that he had enough confidence in the public-school system and stressed that he intends to keep the promise.
El-Rufai, who has come under fire by residents who accused him of enrolling his son in public school for political gain, said his action was not a political statement.
We believe in leading by example, we believe in whatever policy we propose that will affect people negatively, we start imposing it on us.
“It is my intention that my children will be in public school as long as I am governor here.
Of course, when I finish my term, I will move out. I intend to leave Kaduna when I finish. I am not going to stay here. I may explore other options of putting them in other schools,” he said.
He said Abubakar misses the school, adding that; “he keeps asking, ‘Baba, when will I go back to school, I miss my friends, I miss my teachers’ I told him not yet, you can’t tell a seven-year-old you are likely to be kidnapped.”
Nigerian police officers have been deployed en masse to Ojota, Lagos State, ahead of the much anticipated Yoruba Nation Now rally slated to hold in Lagos today.
It was gathered that police vans were stationed at the venue to forestall the breakdown of law and order and to arrest protesters. Protesters were not seen at the venue in the early hours of Saturday.
The Oduduwa Nation agitators, led by Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), had called for the rally to drum attention to their demands.
However, following attacks on Igboho’s Ibadan residence, he backed out of the plan.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had, during a joint press briefing with the Lagos Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, on Thursday, banned the planned rally because an intelligence report revealed plans to hijack the protest.
Reiterating this position on Friday, the police boss, who addressed a security gathering comprising operatives of the police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Federal Road Safety Commission at the Command headquarters, said they were prepared for the agitators.
Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, (Igboho) has debunked the report which claimed he had been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services.
Reports claim that the Yoruba Nation agitator was arrested with the founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, on Friday.
But in an audio shared by Igboho’s aide, Olayomi Koiki, the agitator noted that he was not arrested by the DSS but is currently in his house at Ibadan.
Igboho, while speaking on the report making the rounds about his arrest, appreciated his fans and followers across the world for their support.
Sunday Igboho
The Yoruba activist, who stated that he heard that he was arrested at Guru Maharaj Ji, claimed that he is nowhere around the reported location but back in his house in Ibadan.
Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has reacted to the statement by the Department of State Services (DSS) demanding that he should turn himself in.
Igboho noted that the agency had no right to declare him wanted as there was no prior invitation sent to him by the agency neither was any search warrant used by the officers who invaded his home.
He also said the guns found in his house were ‘government magic’, stating that he only makes use of traditional powers for protection.
This was contained in a statement issued by his aide, Olayomi Koiki, titled, ‘My Persecution By Buhari Regime: Setting The Record Straight’.
Igboho clarified that his intervention was necessitated by the government’s failure to provide security for its citizens noting that his agitations had never involved bloodshed.
He also alleged that the invasion at his house was an attempt by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to silence him so the killer-herdsmen, whom he always antagonised, will take over the South-West region.
Sunday Igboho
The statement read, “The invasion of my home by Nigerian security operatives and the Department of State Services’ (DSS) announcement that I’m wanted has made it essential for me to set the records straight for Nigerians and the international community.
Agitator for Yoruba Nation, Sunday Igboho has made a volte-face over the rally scheduled for Lagos State on Saturday.
Ripples Nigeria had reported that Igboho announced the suspension of the rally after a raid by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on his Ibadan residence.
Also, the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu warned Igboho and other agitators not to stage any rally in Lagos.
He stated that anyone caught participating or facilitating the rally would be dealt with according to the law.
However, Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki explained on Friday, that the rally will go as planned at Ojota, adding that Igboho will be back stronger.
He said: “I can still confirm officially that the Lagos rally in as much as whatever news or rumours you’ve been listening to from different outlets, will go as planned
The 3rd of July Mega rally will go as planned. All arrangements for the rally has been planned and nothing has changed.
I have spoken to the organisers, nothing has changed so far. 3rd of July from exactly 9:00 am in the morning. The whole arrangement and planning is going on.”
“I’ve spoken with the General Secretary of Ilana Omo Odua, George Akinola, and also in the early hours before noon, I spoke with Banji Akintoye and he is working tirelessly for the release of those taken away.
“The rally in Lagos is going to be a peaceful rally, it is going to be a mega rally, do not be disturbed about what happened. So many development took place at Igboho’s house.
“We might get a form of a video from Igboho about the Lagos rally, which might be released, we’ll be deciding that in the next 24 hours.”
