Her mother-in-law, Aisha Buhari disclosed this via her social media accounts on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
“Congratulations to Mrs. Zahra B Buhari on your graduation with First Class Honors in Architectural Science. Wishing you all the best,” the First Lady wrote.
Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, on Tuesday, advised the National Association of Nigerian Students that they should stay away from Kaduna airport as they protest against the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
He disclosed this on his Twitter handle.
Sani further stated that the forest near Kaduna Airport is unsafe, saying, “NANS should avoid Kaduna International Airport; you know that forest nearby, e get as e bi.”
This comes after students blocked access to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Monday to protest the prolonged strike.
The Jigawa State Police Command in collaboration with a local vigilance group, have arrested two suspected kidnappers in in Taura Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesman of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, September 20, said the suspects, aged between 35 and 40, were arrested on Sunday following reliable intelligence and credible information.
“Those arrested are believed to members of criminal gang that have been terrorising parts of the state and neighbouring Kano,” he stated.
“The police arrested them during a special operation in Larabawa village, Gabasawa area of Kano and Larabar Gurgunya village in Taura, Jigawa,”
The PPRO said that preliminary investigation showed that the suspects were responsible for the August 9 attack on personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
“Investigation is also showing that the suspects killed two police officers at Kwalam village in Taura on January 23,” he said.
The police spokesman further stated that four magazines with 83 rounds of 7.9mm live ammunition, two locally made pistols, bows, arrows and two sticks were recovered from them.
He also said that cellular phones, clothes, lubricating oil, three Nigerian National Identity Cards and four photographs were recovered from the suspects.
Shiisu urged the public to always avail the police of credible and reliable information concerning suspicious persons around their environment.
He said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation in the matter has been concluded.
A 31-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel has been handed a seven year jail sentence by an Ikeja Special Offences Court, for s*xually assaulting his 16-year-old student.
Ruling on the case on Monday September 19, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo said the prosecution failed to establish the charge of child defilement against the defendant.
This was however because the survivor failed to show up in court during proceedings to testify.
Justice Taiwo who noted that the confessional statement by the defendant, which was made voluntarily, showed that he s*xually assaulted the minor, added that the defendant admitted to fondling the br@st of the victim twice and attempted to have s*x with her but he could not have a penetration because she was a v*rgin.
Taiwo said; “The defendant is hereby convicted on the charge of s*xual assault of a child.
“You are a teacher and you were touching the br@st of your student. You would have gone for life if the victim had come to court to testify.”
An Ex-personnel of the Department of State Services, DSS, Prosper Israel, has been paraded alongside nine other suspected robbers by the Abia State Police force.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbade, said the armed robbery gang was part of the 14-man robbery gang that ambushed a bullion van near the Ntigha junction of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on July 26, 2022.
During the robbery, they killed one new generation bank cash officer on the spot, and carted away an unspecified amount of cash being conveyed by the bullion van.
CP Agbade, said their arrest was the reward of months of painstaking efforts and investigation.
”I carefully studied their modus operandi and set up a special intelligence technologically-led Investigative squad ( ITLIS) with a clear directive to arrest and recover weapons used by the deadly armed robbery gang.
Consequently, the Investigation used systematically commenced operation, applying speed and accuracy, and on different locations and days, arrested the following callous armed robbery gang” she said.
The police boss gave the names of the suspects as Adesoji Adeniyi from Ondo State; Nnamdi Nwaosu a.k.a “Prophet”; Chinwendu Israel from Abia; and Prosper Israel ( ex – DSS personnel), also from Abia.
Others were Nwachukwu Albert a.k.a White ( first amourer) from Delta State but resident in Lagos; Felix Ajaja from Ondo State; Moshood Opeyemi, from Osun State; and Matthew Christmas also from Delta.
Among the suspects also were Azubuike Amaefula a.k.a Zubby from Abia; and Monday Samuel (second armourer) from Delta but resident in Ondo State.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one General Purpose Machine Gun ( GPMG); 13 AK 47 riffles; one cut-to-size double barrel gun with five live cartridges; 84 AK 47 magazines.
Others were two improvised explosives dynamites; a Mercedes Benz mini truck used in concealing firearms; and cash of N10, 184,000. According to the CP, the suspects during interrogation confessed that they placed the bullion van on surveillance for two months.
The CP who said that efforts were on to trail three other members of the gang still at large, pleaded with members of the public to always volunteer information about suspected criminals around them.
She said that the suspects would be arraigned after further investigations.
When interrogated, the ex-DSS officer pleaded for forgiveness, saying it was the first time he would be involved in any crime.
He said he was initially serving at the Abia State Government House but was dismissed in 2007 following his late reporting to a new posting.
According to him, it was his brother that gave him part of the money he got from the operation.
”My role in the operation was that I was in my house when my brother brought money and his colleagues and they shared and gave me part of it.
I asked him and he told me how they got the money. I want to plead for forgiveness because I failed to rebuke him.
So, it is obvious I participated because I can’t say I did not. But it was not intentional and I want society to forgive us”he said

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it would conduct a supplementary Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 67 candidates on Saturday, September 24,2022.
JAMB’s Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin said the supplementary exam was fixed for the candidates after reviewing the entire exercise.
The statement released on Monday September 19, read;
“The examination is for 67 candidates who had registered for the 2022 UTME, but who could neither sit the examination nor take the just-concluded Mop-Up UTME owing to one challenge or another, to take their examination at specially-designated centres.
“It would be recalled that after the 2022 UTME, the Board had reviewed the entire exercise and those candidates with biometric challenges were given the opportunity of sitting a mop-up examination.
“The Board also announced that since the conduct of a mop-up examination is a stopgap measure, it would not be allowed to be a permanent feature of its calendar. Therefore, any candidate presenting any strange challenge(s) would have to indicate or declare such peculiarities at the point of registration for them to be given special consideration and allocated to centres within its National Headquarters, Abuja, for close monitoring as the Board had phased out the conduct of mop-up examinations.
“However, in spite of the discovery of series of suspicious challenges presented by some candidates, the Board has, on account of its avowed commitment to equity and fairness, scheduled another set of 67 candidates to sit the examination at designated centres, under close scrutiny of the Board.”
This decision to give these set of candidates this unusual opportunity is to ensure that no single innocent candidate is punished unjustly.
“These 67 candidates are, therefore, urged to print their supplementary examination notification slips from Monday, 19th September, 2022, to know the centres where they would be sitting the examination.”

A storey building has collapsed in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State.
The affected building housing several shops located opposite the Bukuru mini Stadium, collapsed late Sunday night, September 18.
A resident, Adamu Iliya told newsmen in Jos on Monday that nobody was inside the building as it was Sunday.
“We heard sound from the building at about 9pm, but we thank God it was on a Sunday and at night when nobody was in the shopping complex.” the resident said.
Search and Rescue operation is ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have blocked the road leading to the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos State to protest the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The students, protesting the seven-month strike, blocked a section of the access road to the International airport on Monday morning, September 19.
This caused gridlock as vehicular movement in and out of the airport was stalled.
There was heavy police presence at the scene but this did not deter the protesting students.
The students had last week blocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Ibadan-Ife Road.

A Chinese national resident in Kano, Geng Quangrong, has disclosed why he stabbed his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummu Kulthum, to death.
Geng killed 23-year-old Ummu last Friday, September 16, in her home in Kabuga Quarters, Dorayi Babba area of Kano State. He reportedly confessed to the crime after he was arrested by the police in Kano.
Geng, 47, said he killed Ummi because she promised to marry him but later reneged on that promise after he had spent so much money on her.
Geng has since been transferred to the state headquarters at Bompai for further investigation and prosecution. Meanwhile, late Ummu was buried Saturday morning, September 17, in Kano.
Five passengers travelling in a commercial bus have been kidnapped by gunmen at Emuoha-Kalabari Road in Rivers State.
The gunmen shot sporadically after ambushing the vehicle at a bad spot in the area at about 8pm on Saturday September 17.
They reportedly took the driver and seven passengers into a nearby bush. Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko who revealed that the command is yet to get a clear picture of the incident, told newsmen that the State Commissioner of Police had already called a meeting of stakeholders in the area to get to the root of the matter.
She said;
“The CP has called stakeholders, including the local government chairmen and the anti-cultism. He has deployed anti-kidnapping and other tactical unit to comb the area”.
The Oyo Mesi Traditional Council has announced that 65 contestants will proceed to the next selection process for the Alaafin stool after being cleared. Regent and Basorun of Oyo, Chief Yussuf Ayoola disclosed this on Sunday September 18.
The Basorun was quoted saying in a statement released by the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Bode Durojaiye, that the remaining process would no longer be restricted to the 10 contestants earlier shortlisted.
They will now proceed for Ifa consultation and whoever emerges among the aspirants will be the candidate and the next Alaafin of Oyo.
The statement read;
“All contestants who appeared for the interview are qualified for the next level, which is Ifa consultation, after the meeting of members of the Oyo Mesi.
“Whoever emerges among the aspirants will be the candidate and the next Alaafin of Oyo.
“There is no rift among members of the Oyo Mesi contrary to insinuations and misinformation milling around. We are as united as ever.
Misunderstanding can happen at any given point in time. It is natural. What is important is the amicable resolution so as not to let the misunderstanding degenerate into violence.
“None of the Oyo Mesi members has a favoured aspirant as all the contestants are equal before us. For the umpteenth time, we are conscientious, not money conscious and greedy.”
An explosive device suspected to be a bomb exploded in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Sunday September 18.
Eyewitnesses who claimed that the bomb was planted behind a drinking joint, told Channels Television that the incident occurred at about 9:35pm at the location close to the First Roundabout leading to Taraba State University.
Though no life was lost, the explosion reportedly caused damages to some shops and residential buildings in the area. A local said;
“A little baby of about four years was at the shop sleeping when the wall collapsed.“Luckily, she survived it and is receiving medical attention at a hospital.”
While the state police command and the state government are yet to comment on the explosion, the police have cordoned off the area to avert another blast just in case another device was planted nearby.
Residents of the area have also expressed fear over what could befall them again, adding that Sunday’s incident was the fourth in the chain of explosions that have rocked the state since the beginning of the year.

A 28-year-old herbalist has been arrested for allegedly stealing a female corpse’s head and intestines at the Muslim Cemetery, Oke Yidi, in Ede, Osun State.
Ismail Adewuyi was arrested on Saturday, September 17, by men of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service.
Adewuyi, armed with charms, stormed the cemetery in the early hours of Saturday. He then exhumed a corpse, cut the head, and brought out its intestines.
However, a member of the hunters’ service, who considered Adewuyi’s movement to be suspicious, accosted him as he was exiting the cemetery.
The hunters found the severed corpse’s head and intestines in Adewuyi’s possession and handed him over to the police. An investigation is ongoing.
At least two people have been confirmed dead and many others missing when two boats capsized in Jumbam, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Director-General Press and Media Affairs in Yobe, Mamman Mohammed, said the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, September 17, when two passenger boats bound for the Babangida weekly market capsized in a flood wave.
Mohammed said the State Governor, Mai Buni, has expressed shock and sorrow over the accident.
“His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has received with deep sorrow the sad and unfortunate news of boat mishaps in Jumbam community of Tarmuwa local government area,” the statement read.
“The sad news reaching the governor indicated that two boats loaded with passengers going to Babangida weekly market, capsized with only two bodies recovered.
“Governor Buni has directed for an intensive search mission with the hope to rescue the victims or their bodies.”
Buni described the accident as sad, unfortunate, devastating, and prayed for safe rescue of the victims.”
He advised travellers on the roads, streams and rivers as well as, residents along water banks to always be cautious.
“The heavy rains and floods usually come from far and unannounced, we should always be on the watch out and avoid dangerous ways,” the statement added.
A building which collapsed in the early hours of Saturday September 17, at Birniwa local government area of Jigawa state, has left at least one person dead.
Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam said the incident occurred at around 5:47am on Saturday.
He disclosed that while one person died on the spot, several others were injured. The injured victims were rushed to Birniwa General Hospital for examination and treatment.
Adam added that the police did not suspect any foul play as the building that collapsed was built with mud.

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and Petrol Tanker Drivers have suspended their strike in Rivers State.
This came after a meeting convened by state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, and attended by the unions and other stakeholders.
Also at the meeting was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
This was contained in a communique signed by Chinda Ejims, who represented the PTD and the representative of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
Other signatories were chairmen of Emuhua, Ikwerre and Etche Local Government Areas of the state respectively.
The PTD-NUPENG had complained of harassment, extortion and impounding of members’ trucks by operatives, including Police, EFCC, Army and taskforce operating in the three LGAs.
The communique reads,”The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations to set up a task force headed by an officer not below the rank of Superintendent of Police, to embark on the arrest of all illegal taskforces operating under the guise of the respective Local Government Areas.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, appealed to the Executive Chairmen of the various Local Government Areas to apply human face in enforcing the provisions of the Rivers State Traffic Law.”
Going forward, PTD-NUPENG were advised to educate their members on the need to report any mechanical breakdown of their trucks to the nearest Police Station in the event that the repairs may exceed the six hours provided for by the law.
“That the PTD-NUPENG to appoint a member of the Union into the State taskforce on illegal bunkering activities so as to ensure timely and transparent of sample products suspected to be from illegal bunkering activities.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State has directed that all trucks with clean bill of health from the report of Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority should be released on Friday, unconditionally while owners of Product that failed the test will be prosecuted at the end of investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command stated that the resolution of the stakeholders meeting will be communicated to her sister security agencies (EFCC and Nigeria Army) not represented at the meeting.
“That the Commissioner of Police has promised to intervene on the issue of the truck impounded by IGP taskforce on illegal bunkering to ensure justice prevails.
“The PTD-NUPENG has promised to suspend their strike action Thursday, September 15, 2022, after the necessary consultation on the outcome of the meeting.”
