Lagos government has suspended all activities of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) with immediate effect.

Other members of the Committee include; Sunday Aransiola, Sulaiman Onabanjo, Azeez Abdulrahman, Isiaka Seriki, Victor Ifemenam, Kareem Babatunde, Amusan Abdulrahman, Teslim Adeshina, Sulaiman Surajudeen, and Fatai Rauf. Others are; Sunday Banjo, Segun Omole, Thomas Akinkayode, Taiwo Lasisi, Gbenga Kashimawo, Samson Ajala, Taiwo Daodu, Sule Aliu, Ahmed Musa and Oladipupo Ibrahim, Adewale Adeniyi, Olatunji Durojaiye, Wasiu Olanrewaju, Taofeek Onileola, Yusuf Afolabi, Bode Ogungbade, Alh. A.A. Ussaini, Saliu Usman, Saheed Badru, Kolawole Yusuf, Kayode Thomas, Idowu Oyewole, and Salami Babatunde Ope are to also join them.
Giwa who reiterated that the suspension becomes necessary to prevent further acts of violence in the State, added that men of the Lagos State Police Command will be deployed across the State to enforce the suspension and ensure the safety of lives and properties.
He also revealed that he met with some representatives of the RTEAN on Wednesday following a protest by some members of the Union demanding the removal of their National President.
Giwa said the state government gave an assurance of a total investigation into the allegations leveled against the National President with a promise to resolve all lingering issues.
An aide to the governor of Delta state, Ossai Success Ovie, has said that Bobrisky is a bad influence on the youths in Nigeria and has called on the Federal government to pay urgent attention to the lifestyle of the popular crossdresser.

The Adamawa State Police Command has vowed to trail the attackers of a woman who also killed her daughter in Kodomti, Numan Local Government Area.
The woman and her baby girl were on their way to a burial when they were attacked by the suspected herdsmen.
The attackers inflicted a serious injury on her and then murdered her daughter.
The woman is currently receiving treatment at a general hospital in Numan due severe injuries inflicted on her.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Yahaya Nguroje, the state Commissioner of Police, S. K. Akande, condemned the attack and ordered for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
Nguroje added that the state Commissioner of Police warned that attacks on innocent citizens would no longer be tolerated under whatever guise.
He added that the Command is doing everything legally possible to fish out the perpetrators.
Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah have sparked dating rumors after being spotted out on a romantic dinner date in New York City on Wednesday night.

The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has kicked against Federal Government’s proposal to privatize National Integrated Power Plants (NIPPs).
The federal government is proposing to privatize the following power plants;
Benin Generation Company Ltd, Calabar Generation Company Ltd, Geregu Generation Company Ltd, Olorunsogo Generation Company Ltd and Omotosho Generation Company Ltd. Commenting on the proposal on Thursday September 29, outgoing NGF Chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, said Governors opposed the plan because all stakeholders were not carried along in the scheme of things.
Fayemi said;
“We examined the issues relating to the proposed privatisation of the power project and we took a decision that at this point in time, the NGF is opposed to the sale of any of the plants until appropriate steps have been taken that would take into consideration the interest of states that are also equity holders in those plants.
“We’ll continue to do whatever we can to ensure the resources of Nigeria stay with the Nigerian people and are not filtered away in a manner we can’t explain.”
The NGF who also advised the Federal Government against sanctioning the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, urged the federal government to rather resolve the contentious issues in the interest of the students and Nigeria.
The leadership of the House of Representatives will be meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the resolution of the ongoing face-off between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila who made the announcement after a meeting with stakeholders, said they’ll be sharing a report of its interactions with key stakeholders in the dispute and come up with recommendations that will enable the President to view the issues at stake from an informed second option.
Those who attended the meeting include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Sen Chris Ngige; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan; the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Sylva Okolieaboh; the Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze; the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, represented; as well as the Chairman, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Ekpo Nta among others.
Also present was the delegation from ASUU led by its president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.
Reiterating that the interest of the children that had been at the receiving end of the trade dispute should be paramount, Gbajabiamila appealed to both sides to give in and make concessions from their initial demands.
He said;
“We will put together our recommendations and our thoughts and take it to Mr. President, that’s why we are here to interface and look for solutions.
“Again let me repeat, we are running a government, nobody, no individual, no group, whether you are legislative, judiciary or whatever can be above the government, can be above the law.
“We can’t be against and I’m speaking specifically to ASUU, we did not say because the court has given judgment, that’s the end of our conversation. In spite of the court judgment, we are still looking for solutions, we didn’t even address it here, I don’t want to address it.
“Otherwise, we could’ve said, if government has given judgment, I don’t know if there’s a stay of execution, I don’t know.
“We are appealing to you, the Judiciary has spoken, the Executive has spoken, the Legislature is about to speak together with the Executive; everybody cannot be wrong and only one person is right.
For me I’m happy with the solution on UTAS, no victor, no vanquished, everybody is being carried along.“for the sake of emphasis, the House is pleading with you, let’s put all interest aside and look at the interest of our children.
“The white paper we told you we’ll get, the letter is here, it’s now waiting for the President’s final approval.
“On revitalization, I asked the DG budget here if provision has been made in the budget. We made a promise to you, and we are staying by that promise.

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee has announced the elevation of 62 lawyers to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Among them are three lawyers engaged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, although two of them – Sylvanus Tahir and Rotimi Oyedepo – are employees of the EFCC.
But the other lawyer, Wahab Shittu, is engaged by the EFCC for specific cases.The LPPC, chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, released the list of the new SANs in a statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, Hajo Bello.
Among the successful candidates, 53 of them belong to the advocacy category while the other nine are of the academic category.
The statement said all the 62 lawyers would be inaugurated on November 21
The inauguration of new SANs usually takes place at the Supreme Court during the ceremony marking the commencement of the court’s new legal year.
The SAN rank is awarded as a mark of excellence to members of the legal profession who have distinguished themselves as advocates and academics.

University of Calabar Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that ten of its academic staff members have died since the union began its strike on February 14, 2022.
This was revealed that ASUU UNICAL Branch Chairman, Dr John Edor, on Thursday September 29.
Though he did not reveal what led to their death, Edor however disclosed their names and the courses they taught.
The names listed are; Prof. E. O. Udosen, Biochemistry; Dr. Mrs. Iquo Takon, Microbiology; Prof. G. U. Ntamu, Religious and Cultural Studies; Prof. Mrs. Judith Otu, Sociology; Prof. Victor Ibianwu, Physics, Prof. Offiong Abia, History and International Studies; Prof. Catherine Agbor, Arts Education; Dr. Augustine Bassey, Sociology; Dr. Ita Esuabana, Mathematics and Dr. Chinyere Okam, Theatre and Media Studies.
Six people including three policemen were confirmed dead in multiple accidents on along Birnin Kebbi/Argungu road in Kebbi State.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, September 27, when a vehicle smuggling petrol products from Birnin Kebbi collided into a bank bullion vehicle, four others and a motorcycle.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, September 28, in Birnin Kebbi.
“The accident occurred when a Carina E car, carrying jerricans of PMS, was suspected to have been pursued by a Nigeria Customs Service patrol team from Birnin Kebbi,” the statement read.
“On getting to Jeda village, the Carina E car had a head-on collision with the Bullion van, as a result, bursting into flames and consumed three other cars.
Consequently, a total of five vehicles and one motorcycle were burnt to ashes,” “Six people including three police men also died in the inferno, while five other people, three policemen sustained various degree of injuries and were rushed to Federal Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi, for medical attention,”
The statement said the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, swiftly rushed to scene of the accident and had condoled with families of the deceased.
He prayed the Almighty Allah grants the lives of the departed souls eternal rest and to give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“Magaji-Kontagora is also assuring members of the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident,” he added.
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has described bandits as animals that kill people who pose no harm to them.
Matawalle who justified the death penalty approved for anyone convicted of banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, or cultism in the state when interviewed on Journalists’ Hangout, a TVC programme, said the state government has tried several approaches towards curbing banditry in the state, but such measures were not 100 percent successful.
He said;
“God knows I have adopted so many options for this crisis to leave the state, but unfortunately, there are good and bad people in any society.
“We’ve tried all we can. I’ve adopted so many options in the state and most of the options have yielded a lot of results.“I’ve done dialogue. I shut down the network.

“Why I said everyone should get a weapon is because these bandits are like animals. How can you see someone farming, and then go and kill him?”
“If we say our people should not carry arms, who will go and confront the bandits if not the people? Those who are saying the directive is bad, why can’t they go and save our people?
“As a governor, I can’t fold my arms and see my people being killed every day. It’s not possible. It’s one of the primary responsibilities of the governor to protect the lives and property of his people.”

The troll had shared Yesufu’s family photo and stated that her two children did not participate in the EndSARS protest that rocked the country in October 2020.

Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Kabir Maikarfi III, is dead.
According to information from the palace, Maigari who is the chairman of the Lokoja traditional council, died at 80 on Wednesday evening, September 28, after a brief illness at a private hospital in Abuja.
A statement issued on Wednesday night by the Secretary of Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, Muhammed Nalado Usman, said the monarch will be buried in Lokoja on Thursday, September 29, by 3 pm.
Until his death, the monarch is said to have been one of the longest-serving traditional rulers in Kogi State, having ascended the throne in 1992.
He was also one of the country’s foremost and highly respected traditional rulers.
The first outrider of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dickson Dike (ASC) has died in a fatal accident in Abuja. Dickson was until his death, the motorbike escort rider of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
It was gathered that the deceased was leading Audi’s convoy when he ran into a culvert and died on the spot on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
“The commandant-general had just closed from work on Tuesday evening and was heading home when the incident happened at an intersection close to his official residence in the Federal Capital Territory,” an NSCDC source told Punch.
“Dickson was said to have attempted a stunt near a major intersection before Mr Audi’s residence at Asokoro Extension.
After passing the intersection and attempting a U-turn to join the rest of the convoy, he missed the brakes and ran into a concrete culvert while on high speed.”
The corps spokesperson, Mr Shola Odumosu, who confirmed the development on Thursday, September 29, described the incident as unfortunate.
“The entire management and staff of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) mourns a very gallant officer, ASC I Dickson Dike, the first outrider of the corps. May his soul rest in perfect peace.” he stated.
A Federal High Court sitting in Sokoto on Wednesday September 28, remanded a Director at the Sokoto State Commodity Board, Hassan Bello, in a correctional centre over an alleged N1.3 million job scam.
Bello was remanded on one count-charge bordering on fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It was alleged that he committed the offence sometime in August 2021.
Prosecution Counsel, Mr Hannafi Sa’ad told the court that Bello who is a Director of Administration at the board, collected the money from Aliyu Adamu-Tsaki, Yusuf Abubakar and Yahaya Salihu in the presence of one Dahiru Muhammad in Sokoto.
Sa’ad told the court that he reportedly presented false letters to the victims which were later discovered to be fake and non-existent.
While the Defense Counsel, Mr Aminu Mustapha, filed a motion for bail on behalf of his client, the prosecution counsel sought for more time to study it before filing a counter affidavit.
Justice Ahmad Mahmud who adjourned the case to October 4, 2022 to hear the motion for bail application as well as continue the case, ordered that the accused person be remanded in a correctional center in the state until the adjourned date.
The Federal Executive Council, on Wednesday, September 28, approved N580.50m for the purchase of four armoured vehicles for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, disclosed this to State House correspondents shortly after the weekly Council meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Abubakar Malami, the decision to procure the armoured vehicles was taken to encourage and safeguard the lives of NDLEA operatives. Speaking with journalists at the end of the FEC meeting, Malami said operatives of the agency have been working hard with lots of results to show for their efforts.
“Today, a memo was presented by the office of the attorney general of the federation, that is, the Federal Ministry of Justice, which was relating to a parastatal under the supervision of the office of the attorney general; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” he said.
“The purpose of the memo was to seek approval of the council for the award of contract for the supply of four customised armoured security vehicles of 14-seater model for the NDLEA and the contract sum is N580,500,000 only inclusive of 7.5 per cent value added tax with a delivery period of 16 weeks.” He continued:
“It is common knowledge that recently, the NDLEA has been repositioned and arising from the support both in terms of our capacity building, hardware and associated things, they have been recording an extra-ordinary or unprecedented success.
Recently they seized about 1.8 tons of cocaine having a market value of about N194 billion.
“So, with all these successes recorded, it is only logical that the criminals and their syndicate are now devising means inclusive of attacks on NDLEA personnel and it is with that in mind that the memo was presented for the procurement of such vehicles for the NDLEA and the council approved.”
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has said that national grid collapse will be a thing of history under his watch if elected as President in 2023.
The former governor of Anambra State said this in reaction to news of yet another collapse of the national grid, which he described as disturbing.
Proffering solution, Obi stated that his team has a strategic plan to progressively scale up power generation and the liberalisation of the transmission infrastructure in the country, to ensure that Nigerians enjoy adequate and stable power supply from 2023 onwards.
He tweeted on Wednesday, “The report of yet another national grid collapse is very disturbing to me, and is a reminder of the long rescue and recovery journey ahead of us.
Effective power generation, transmission and distribution remain a national security issue.
“This also places power on the front burner of campaign and policy. Painfully, this latest episode is the 7th national grid collapse in 2022.
As part of the Obi-Datti policy plan, we have put together a strategic plan to progressively scale up power generation, and the liberalisation of the transmission infrastructure in the country, to ensure that Nigerians enjoy adequate and stable power supply from 2023 onwards.
