Herbalist and suspected Yahoo Boy caught with human parts in Delta

A suspected fraudster and his herbalist known as Ike, aka Ogenesu, have been arrested after policemen attached to the Obiaruku Police Station recovered suspected human parts at the herbalist’s place in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State.

The suspect was driving around 5.20pm on Friday, October 28, when five policemen who were on a stop-and-search duty flagged down his vehicle.

The suspect refused to park and sped off instead, so the policemen chased after him and finally caught up with him. The policemen, while searching the vehicle, found a note specifying the need for human parts, Punch reports.

“The instruction on the note was that the man should provide a human head, hand and leg. After recovering the note, the policemen asked what he wanted to use the specified items for and out of fear, he said it was for something,” a source told the publication.

“So, the policemen embarked on full investigation by visiting the Obiaruku Police Station to obtain a warrant to search his three-bedroom flat and while searching his house, they obtained another written note requesting the same items in the first written note that was found in his car.”

The police officers detained the suspect and during interrogation, he mentioned the herbalist Ike.

The suspect led policemen to the herbalist’s place, and while searching the premises, a decomposing corpse was found beside a fish pond. However, Ike claimed the corpse is that of his child. He said:

“It was my child that was buried; I dug the grave and removed the corpse from where it was buried.”

Nigerian lady celebrates as she becomes Branch Manager of Canada’s leading bank

A Nigerian woman, Patience Adesuwa Ajao is celebrating after she was promoted as the Branch Manager of a leading bank in Canada.

Taking to Facebook on Saturday, November 12, Mrs Ajao recalled how people said she would never be promoted when she was employed as a Customer Service Representative with the bank eight years ago.

“Upon relocating to Canada eight years ago, I was told to abandon all thoughts of building a career, and just, survive. A few months later, I accepted the Customer Service Representative role with one of Canada’s top five Banks,” she wrote.

Talks in my ears sounded like: you will not get promoted, you will be a teller for life, remember you are black, a woman and an immigrant from Nigeria, three strikes against you.

Forging on, I moved through four roles: Financial Services Representative, Financial Advisor, Manager of Customer Experience, and Assistant Branch Manager.

In addition to having my 3rd child, pregnancy and maternity did not prevent my climb up the ladder. Needless to say, I have since distanced myself from those that never believed in me.

I am blessed to be a part of an organization that has provided a level playing field for everyone. In this month of November 2022, I accepted the promotion to the role of Branch Manager, thank you TD!!

Finally, Dear Immigrants: seek an organization that will accept your potential and believe in yourself that you can attain whatever height you aim for.

FRSC denies using POS for payment of fines

The Federal Road Safety Corps has denied the use of Point of Sale machines to receive payment for fines of traffic offenses on patrol points.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available by the Corps Spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, on Thursday November 10.

FRSC explained that rather, they make use of a digitalised E-ticketing device to enhance ease of doing business.

The statement read in part,

“As an ISO certified organisation with global recognition for lead role in road safety administration and traffic management, the Corps has over the years developed transformational initiatives focused on People, Processes and Technology.

This development is strategic to the introduction of technology into its operations to fade out the use of booking sheet which is a manual way of recording traffic offenders information and replace it with a digital booking device.

“In addition to the above and for better clarification on this technology, the Corps wishes to let the public know that the E-Tablet is a three in one android device that was brought into the operational front in compliance with global best practices on electronic ticketing.

“The introduction of the device targets at improving robust data collection and speeding up on-the-spot synchronisation of traffic offenders information into the national database.

The device is a one stop shop for verification of the national driver’s license and the vehicle number plate as well as other FRSC products and services.

“The Acting Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, is by this medium reiterating that the motoring public should note that the Corps does not use POS machines but a digitalised E-ticketing device which at the moment enhances ease of doing business.”

Petrol will cost N410 with subsidy – NNPC

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari, has said that petrol will cost N410 in the country if subsidy is removed.

Speaking at the Legislative Transparency and Accountability Summit organised by the House of Representatives in Abuja on Wednesday, November 9, Kyari also noted that there is nowhere today that you can land a litre of PMS to the pumps at the N445 exchange rate.

He said;

“It is not possible for you to buy fuel at N170 when your actual cost is thrice that value. For instance, today, when PMS comes into this country, we transfer to marketers at N113 per litre for us to ensure N165 at the pump, so you must sell at N113 to them to be able to deliver at N165.

“That means whatever the cost, anything after that value, that is subsidy. Somebody has to pay for it. Everyone knows the price of PMS around the world. There is nowhere today that you can land a litre of PMS to the pumps at the N445 exchange rate, it is not possible.

“In some places, you are subsidizing up to N290 on every litre. With this regime, it is impossible for you to avoid all the wrong things that are happening. Round tripping, cross-border smuggling, document forgery-anywhere you have arbitrage, you will have these issues.”

Kyari also justified the engagement of private security contractors to secure its facilities in an effort to fight against oil theft in the country, adding that it has paid off.
