BBNaija stars Pere, Maria, Queen and others face possible eviction

As the fifth week on the BBNaija show starts, a new set of six housemates were nominated for possible eviction after the housemates voted.

After going into the diary room to call two names each, the housemates who were mentioned the most, JMK, Queen, Peace, Pere, Maria and Sammie, were up for possible eviction.

Biggie however called on the Head of House, Liquorose, to use her veto power to save and replace from those who were already up.

Liquorose then used her power to save Peace and then replaced her with Cross. This came as a surprise seeing as she had also nominated Peace in the Diary Room.

Pere also had a record-breaking total of 10 nominations, meaning half of the housemates mentioned his name.

I changed my personality because of BBNaija, Boma reveals.

Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Boma, has revealed that he changed his personality to be on the show.

He said this in a discussion with Jackie B at the Head of House lounge on Monday, day 30 of the show.

According to him, he isn’t naturally playful as he is in the house; he only changed so that he would be able to mingle with the rest of the housemates.

Boma said, “If you see the way I’m playing now, I don’t play like this outside. I only play like this with someone who has been my girlfriend for a while – like two years- because my relationships are like five years or thereabout. It takes a ‘heavy’ relationship for you to see me like this, in my form here.

“My mum doesn’t even see me play like this. But I had to break myself and say, ‘Let me just be flexible so that I’ll be able to be here’.”

The 34-year-old ex-footballer and model further revealed that if he had come into the show with the mindset that he has achieved a lot, he would have been ‘stiff’.

“I came in here with the mindset that we are all competing, we are all one, we are all on the same level, and I don’t really care where anyone is from or what anyone has. We are just here for one prize and we are all equal. That’s what really helped my mind,” Boma said.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have shot dead a UK-based Nigerian woman, who returned to the country for her mother’s burial, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have shot dead a UK-based Nigerian woman, who returned to the country for her mother’s burial, along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. She was said to have been killed in the presence of her children.

The victim, Bolanle Aworetan Omojuwa was said to have hosted loved ones at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, to celebrate her late mother’s life.

She, however, decided to visit Oyo State after the funeral reception.

Unfortunately, while travelling with her two children on Thursday, she was shot dead in her car by bandits at the Guru Maharaji village, on the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Friends and former schoolmates have taken to various platforms to mourn her.

Alumni members of the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University have also taken to their WhatsApp platform to mourn the deceased, who was one of them.

One of them wrote, “They say we never die, we just change form and continue our existence in another realm. If this is true, I’m sadly mourning you with my tears. It would have been joy to our world if we weren’t cut down. Bola Aworetan (CO99, Pol Sci) came home from the UK to bury her mom last week or so, and same last week, little did we know she won’t return to the UK again to continue her life.

“This most adorable pretty woman was shot dead in her car in front of her children at Guru Maharaji this past Thursday; unwilling forcing her to escort her mum to the great unknown. Your death is too gripping for me. I’m bewildered and I don’t know how to mourn you…”

OUR MCM FOR TODAY IS ANTHONY JOSHUA.

Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua was born on 15 October 1989 in Watford, Hertfordshire, the son of Yeta and Robert Joshua. His mother is Nigerian, while his father is of Nigerian and Irish ancestry. Joshua’s Nigerian background can be specifically traced back to the Yoruba people, amongst whom he is of aristocratic rank. His cousin, Ben Ileyemi, is also a professional boxer. The pair made their professional debuts together in 2013. Joshua spent some of his early years in Nigeria as a boarding school student at Mayflower School in Ikenne. Following his parents’ divorce when he was 12, he returned to the UK halfway through Year Seven to join Kings Langley Secondary School. Growing up on the Meriden Estate in Garston, Hertfordshire, he was called “Femi” by his friends and former teachers, due to his middle name, Oluwafemi. He excelled at football and athletics and broke his school’s Year Nine 100 m record with a time of 11.6 seconds.

A late starter in the sport, Joshua began boxing in 2007, aged 18, when his cousin suggested he take it up. His club, Finchley ABC in Barnet, North London, is also home to professional heavyweight Derek Chisora. Joshua won the 2009 and 2010 Haringey Box Cup. Joshua won the senior ABA Championships in 2010, in only his 18th bout, and later turned down £50,000 to turn professional. “Turning down that £50,000 was easy. I didn’t take up the sport for money, I want to win medals.” He also went on to win the same tournament the following year. In 2010 his domestic success earned him a place on the GB Boxing team and later the same year he became British amateur champion at the GB Championships after defeating Amin Isa. At the 2011 European Championships in June he beat the German Eric Brechlin 23:16 and the Irishman Cathal McMonagle 22:10 but was stopped by the Romanian southpaw Mihai Nistor after receiving several standing counts. In October 2011 he was named Amateur Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club of Great Britain. Joshua had an amateur record of 40–3.

During the 2011 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Joshua marked his sudden arrival on the world scene when he beat Italian reigning world and Olympic champion Roberto Cammarelle, and went on to stop Erik Pfeifer of Germany in the semis before losing by a single point to local boxer, Magomedrasul Majidov winning a silver medal. En route to the final, Joshua secured his place at the 2012 Olympic Games in the super-heavyweight division as a relative newcomer to the elite level of the sport.

Joshua at the 2012 Summer Olympics
Joshua went into the 2012 London Olympics as a novice on the international scene, despite being a world silver medalist. He received a tough draw in the last 16 of the super-heavyweight event in Cuban Erislandy Savón, ranked No. 4 in the world by AIBA and nephew of the three time Olympic champion Félix Savón. The home boxer battled through three tough rounds in his opening contest before being given the result 17:16. This decision caused some controversy with most observers believing Savon had clearly won the bout whilst a few others taking the view that he had won on merit. In his next bout he fought 2008 Beijing Olympics silver medalist Zhang Zhilei, dropping his taller opponent in the middle round; Joshua won by 15:11 guaranteeing at least a bronze medal. In the semi-final Joshua met Kazakh boxer Ivan Dychko, and despite Joshua’s height disadvantage he won by 13:11 to gain a place in the Olympic final. Joshua met 32-year-old reigning Olympic champion and former two-time world champion, Roberto Cammarelle of Italy in the closing bout. After conceding the first two rounds (6:5 and 13:10) to Cammarelle, an adversary he had already beaten the previous year, Joshua grew into the fight and fought back to level the scores after the third round (18:18). Joshua was announced winner via count-back and the new Olympic champion. The final decision was criticised by some boxing experts, being defined as a “home decision”.

He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to boxing.

Joshua has expressed an interest in chess as well as reading as a way to reinforce his boxing and tactical abilities. He was a bricklayer before taking up boxing full-time.

In 2009, Joshua was put on remand in Reading Prison for what he describes as “fighting and other crazy stuff.” He was made to wear an electronic tag on his ankle when released.

In March 2011, Joshua was pulled over by the police for speeding in Colindale, North London. He was found with eight ounces (226.8 grams) of herbal cannabis hidden in a sports bag in his Mercedes-Benz. He was charged with possession with intent to supply a class B drug, an offence that carries a maximum 14-year sentence. Joshua was suspended from the GB Boxing squad and was sentenced to a 12-month community order and 100 hours’ unpaid work after pleading guilty at crown court.

Joshua previously stated in 2012 that he does not support a football team, but when asked in an interview in 2017, he said that although he supports his local team Watford F.C., his “overall favourite” team was Real Madrid C.F. because of Cristiano Ronaldo, as Ronaldo was a Real Madrid player at the time. In the same interview, he also described English footballer Troy Deeney, who he met by chance at a local barbershop in his hometown Watford, as his “good friend”.

In an interview with iFL TV in July 2014, Joshua named Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield as his top five greatest heavyweight boxers of all-time.

Joshua fathered a son named Joseph “JJ” Joshua, with dance teacher Nicole Osbourne, in 2015.

In 2020, Joshua spoke about his positive relationship with his longtime promoter Eddie Hearn, who has promoted him since his professional debut in 2013, saying that he “and Eddie will always have a great friendship.”

BBNaija: “I knew people would judge me by my appearance” — Arin

Arinola Olowoporuku was one of the recent housemates to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, and in an interview she has said that she knew she was never going to win, as people may judge her for her piercings.
In an interview with Punchng.com, she said; “I definitely did not expect to win. I feel like I know Nigerians enough and I knew they were going to judge me. However, I did not know they were going to ‘villain-ise’ me as much as they did but I definitely knew they were going to judge me.
But, I envisaged that I would spend about five or seven weeks in the competition. I left earlier than I expected to leave though but many of the things did not surprise me at all.”

Asked why she expected to be judged, she said, “Of course, (because of) my face and how I look. I am a woman, skinny and dark-skinned. Also, I am very vocal, opinionated, and fierce. I have piercings on my face and I’m very expressive.
People don’t usually expect that from women, so I knew I was going to be judged. Until people have personal interactions with me, I am a conundrum to them. They don’t understand me but when they come closer, their views of me change.”

Speaking on what inspired her love for piercings, Arin said, “I was young and I really loved to express myself. I wanted to wear jewelry and accessories in unfamiliar and unorthodox places. I just wanted to have piercings and I did. I started when I was 15 and I have not stopped.
“I used to have 23 piercings but I took some out and I now have 17. But, they are not all going to be permanent. It would change from time to time.”

BBNaija: Pere’s handler refutes allegations that he “beat his ex-wife till she had a miscarriage”

BBNaija: Shina Ya Eye housemate, Pere’s handler has debunked claims that the former HoH was violent to his ex-wife in his previous marriage.
Recall that a tweep had shared a tweet some days back alleging that Pere once assaulted his ex-wife till she had a miscarriage.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Pere’s handlers stated that the reality TV star has never been violent all his life.

The statement reads;

“Over the past week, a number of media outlets published materials containing false allegations that aim to damage the reputation of Pere.
In those publications, he was falsely accused of being abusive in his personal life. They attached a false image of an individual just to make their case look legit. The said materials make baseless speculations as to who Pere is as an individual.
Pere has never been violent all his life and the image being portrayed was a picture with his friend, a colleague who’s happily married. These types of false information do not affect Pere alone but the innocent friend who’s just showing support to him.”

The statement then says legal action will be taken against the media outlets that published the false report about the housemate.

“We’re currently taking legal steps to each media platform that are involved in this defamation of character. A defamation matter is defined in section 373 of the criminal code as a matter likely to injure the reputation of any person by exposing him to hatred, contempt or ridicule, or likely to damage any person in his profession or trade by injury to his reputation,” the statement read.

Paying tithe is not a ticket to Heaven and drinking of alcohol is not a sin – Priest tells Christians to emancipate themselves

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr. Kelvin Ugwu has corrected Christians on the various practices which many term as sinful and righteous.

In a bid to make religious fanatics emancipate themselves from superstitious beliefs, the Malawi-based priest explained that wearing of trousers by women is not a sin, neither is drinking alcohol.

In a post on Facebook, Ugwu also noted that paying of tithes does not guarantee that one would make Heaven, and he stressed that people who don’t pay tithes won’t go to hell either.

In his words; “Let us make this more explicit. . .

Eating of pork is not a sin.

Wearing trousers for ladies is not a sin.

”Drinking alcohol is not a sin.

Not paying tithe will not take you to hell

Paying tithe is not a ticket to heaven.

Owl is not devilish.

”Wall geckos and cats at your windows have nothing to do with your village people.

Speaking in tongues is not for everyone and you don’t learn it and you don’t forge it

There is nothing like spiritual husband.

Wet dream or nocturnal emmission is normal. It is not a sin.

”The earlier your emancipate yourself from these falsehoods, the better”

BBNaija S6: Whitemoney’s response to Pere’s confrontation was staged, says Saga

Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Saga, has speculated that Whitemoney’s response to Pere’s confrontation on Monday night was staged.
In a discussion with Nini on Wednesday night, Saga said Whitemoney’s response showed that the latter has studied the BBNaija game very well and has set strategies in place.
Recall that Pere and Whitemoney had a clash on Monday night over a question asked during the whispering game played by the housemates.
After the game, Pere had confronted Whitemoney in a way that the latter described as ‘belittling’ and Whitemoney became pissed and had an outburst.
Whitemoney had said, “I know you don’t like me, I know you don’t love me but no problem, let’s have a healthy competition. Regardless, I’ll still kill you with kindness because I like you.”

Referring to Whitemoney’s response, Saga said, “I don’t trust Whitemoney. Everything he did that day was staged. Everything he said was perfect. Whitemoney is one person that knows this game very well.
“He has dominated the game because he has auditioned four times. So he has watched it and he knows. He has been watching it from Big Brother Africa so he knows what he’s doing.”

Then Nini said, “As for me, I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m just being myself. I didn’t come with any strategy.”
In response, Saga confirmed that his position was the same as Nini’s.
Whether his words were planned or not, Whitemoney had earlier revealed to Big Brother that he was still traumatised by Pere’s confrontation.

Haddish’s father, who was Eritrean, left the family when she was still a toddler. After her mother suffered brain damage in a car accident, Haddish spent several years in foster care before going to live with her grandmother as a teenager. Her penchant for making her classmates laugh led her social worker to point her toward the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp, a free summer program offered by the comedy club chain Laugh Factory to teach underprivileged children how to perform stand-up comedy. The camp proved to be a transformative experience for Haddish.

After graduating from high school, Haddish focused on forging a career in comedy, using her life as source material. Although she made headway, she earned so little money that at times she was forced to live in her car. Her first big break came in 2006 when she was a contestant on the television comedy competition show Who’s Got Jokes? Two years later she appeared on Def Comedy Jam and the reality-show spoof Reality Bites Back. During this time, Haddish began to be cast in a number of sitcoms, and she also acted in such films as the comedies Meet the Spartans (2008) and The Janky Promoters (2009), which was written by and starred rapper and actor Ice Cube.

Obasanjo, who disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the Ogun State Diabetes Youth Development Camp held in Abeokuta, however, said he has successfully managed the disease that had killed 1.5 million people across the world as at 2019.

Obasanjo stressed that there is no cure for the disease which can only be effectively managed through a healthy lifestyle.

The ex-President added: “There is no cure for diabetes, maybe there will be a cure before I die, but I pray that there will be a cure before you die.

“Don’t miss your drugs, in your own case, your insulin injection. I take my drugs along with me everywhere I go and I always check my blood sugar level regularly. Don’t let anybody put fear in your minds, diabetes, has no cure for now, but it can be managed.”

Anglican Church Ghana Sacks Priest For Kissing Female College Students

The development comes after an emergency meeting between school authorities and the Anglican Church was held in Asante Mampong after a viral video.

The Anglican Church of Ghana has sacked one of its priests, Balthazar Obeng Larbi, who was captured kissing female students of the St Monica’s College of Education in Asante Mampong.
The development comes after an emergency meeting between school authorities and the Anglican Church was held in Asante Mampong after a viral video.
The resolution was to relieve Larbi of his duties as a priest and also as a lawyer for the Ghana Education Service in the Ashanti region.
Larbi was sacked indefinitely as the church assured members of the public that the three girls involved would undergo counselling sessions.
Rev. Father Balthazar Obeng Larbi “is relieved of his duties as Chaplain of the College and all other official duties pending investigations and recommendations from the committee”, the church said, in a letter to the priest.
The Anglican Church of Ghana had earlier condemned the act and promised an internal investigation on the priest.
A statement which was signed by the church on August 17 indicated that “the said Priest will be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the Church.”
“The church is saddened by the news and wish to state expressly that, a thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said priest will be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the church,” the statement undersigned by Venerable Dr George Dawson-Ahmoah, Executive Director to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana added.
In a viral video, Obeng Larbi was seen kissing female students from the St Monica’s College of Education in Asante Mampong.
One of the girls was uncomfortable and tried to resist but the school Chaplain literally forced the kiss on her while other students watched in excitement.
