Popular Nigerian aphrodisiac vendor and businesswoman, Jaruma real name Hauwa Muhammed has been granted bail by an Upper Area Court in Abuja.
The ‘Kayanmatta’ vendor was arraigned before an Upper Area Court in the Zuba area of Abuja on Monday, January 24 for alleged defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation of actress Regina Daniel’s husband Ned Nwoko, on social media.
The business tycoon, Ned Nwoko had previously accused the aphrodisiac vendor of publishing false narratives on her Instagram page against him and his wife, Regina Daniels.
The judge, Ismaila Abdullahi, on Monday ruled that she should be remanded in the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the bail hearing on Friday.
Ruling on her bail application, Abdullahi stated that her remand should not be seen as a punishment to the defendant.
He, however, admonished all parties involved in the dilemma to refrain from actions that could be considered prejudicial to the case.
He said,
“The court did not remand her in custody as a punitive means to penalise the defendant but to make her present and answer to her case. By this, I shall be quick to point out that the charge against the defendant is bailable but not ordinary.
“I hereby grant her bail on the following conditions: That the surety must be a level 12 civil servant working within the FCT. Also, all the parties involved in the case should stay from anything that would be prejudicial to the case.”
The judge has since adjourned the case till February 23 for hearing.
Jaruma had spent four days in jail prior to receiving the bail on Friday, January 28.

Former Jenifa’s Dairy actress, Juliana Oloyede has revealed on her social media handle that popular pastor, Timilehin Adigun was impersonating her on Facebook.
According to the Nollywood actress, her former foster father, Pastor Timilehin, is refusing to release her social media account passwords to her.
The actress said the pastor has access to her Facebook account which is linked to her Instagram account and he has been impersonating her on Facebook and posting as her.
She said she has been trying to get her passwords back from him, all to no avail.
She added that she then went to his church and requested to see him but their conversation was far from civil and Pastor Timilehin Adigun called security to throw her and her sisters out of the church.
She wrote in the caption of the video:
“I know some people are going to call me and say all sorts but I AM TIRED!!!
To some people, this might be a wrong move, and some might prefer I stay quiet but I am honestly TIRED!!!!
And I am not going to shut up.”
She went on to state that she has no idea what the pastor wants from her.
Oloyede continued;

Popular Aphrodisiac seller, Jaruma, real name Hauwa Muhammed, has been remanded in prison custody following a post she made about actress Regina Daniels’ husband, Ned Nwoko on social media.
The businessman and former lawmaker Nwoko who had written a petition against Jaruma, accused the popular Kayanmata seller of publishing incriminating content about him and his wife, Regina Daniels on her Instagram page.
Jaruma was arraigned before an Abuja Upper Area Court on charges centering on defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation.
Police Prosecutor, E. A Inegbenoise, told the court that Nwoko had reported the matter through a written petition from his lawyer to the FCT Police Command for proper investigation on January 20, 2021.
While Inegbenoise pleaded with the court to allow Jaruma to remain in police custody pending investigation, her lawyer, Mr James Odibe who made an oral bail application, urged the court to grant the defendant bail on self-recognition or in the alternative, in the most liberal terms.
Ruling on the case, Justice Ismailia Abdullahi ordered that the defendant be remanded in Suleja Correctional Center pending the bail hearing on Friday January 28.
Abdullahi then adjourned the matter till February 23, 2021 for trial.

Popular Nigerian singer, D’Banj, has said that a planned collaboration between him and his former partner, Don Jazzy, originally meant to happen last year, was stalled by the Mavin Records boss.
According to him, someone offered them a sizable sum of money to work together on a project in 2021, but Don Jazzy decided to postpone it to 2022.
D’Banj said Don Baba J wanted it to be a huge project so he deferred the plans.
When asked if there is any chance of him still collaborating with Don Jazzy, he responded;
“If we are paid big money. Somebody wanted to pay us last year (2021) but it was Don Jazzy that moved it. He won’t like that I said it was him but that is the truth. We are all connected in a group and they said we would do Mo’Hits Reunion but I was out of the country then.
But, Don Jazzy later said we should move it to 2022, so that we would do it bigger. So, it is Don Jazzy you should ask. We are (still) friends.”
The Koko master also stated that he had decided to focus more on his business for now.
He said; “I tell people that music gets one into the room but what one does in the room is entirely up to one. Since I became a family man, I have been more focused. This is my sixth year of marriage and since then, I have looked for different platforms (to do business). Only about 10 per cent of the wealth of top musicians like Jay Z and Kanye West come from music. The rest is from their business ventures.”
The singer, however stated that he would still continue to release songs.
“Music is forever going to be in me. We grew up not having anybody to look up to but now in the industry, there are people to look up to. I won’t say music is not profitable. But, having the luxury lifestyle that one wants goes beyond music alone,” D’Banj said.
