Megan Thee Stallion wanted to be Rihanna so bad – Nicki Minaj

American rapper, Nicki Minaj has claimed that her colleague, Megan Thee Stallion attempted to “milk” her saga with Tory Lanez, saying she wanted a “Rihanna and Chris Brown”.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to ten years imprisonment following a conviction of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and two other felonies after he was dragged to court by Megan Thee Stallion for shooting her in the feet at Kylie Jenner’s house in 2020.

Speaking in a recent X space with her fans, Nicki Minaj stated that Megan Thee Stallion took legal action against Tory Lanez because she wanted “a Rihanna moment.”

Rihanna achieved more fame and commercial success after she opened up about the physical abuse she was suffering in the hands of her then boyfriend, Chris Brown.

While Chris Brown was “cancelled,” Rihanna became endeared to many music lovers because of the physical abuse on her.

Nicki Minaj claimed that Megan Thee Stallion was desperately chasing the same “moment” with her recent saga with Tory Lanez.

She said, “This is so obvious. She [Megan Thee Stallion] wanted a Rihanna moment so bad.

“But here is the thing, Rihanna is known for just being herself; you-get-what-you-see, you-see-what-you-get type of vibe.

“So, Rihanna never would milk something. You can tell she couldn’t wait to move on with her life.”

The high-budget movie was exclusively released to the cinema on December 15, 2023.

Abraham, who recounted how she stumbled on the movie on a social media platform, said she almost ran mad after she saw it.

Speaking to newsmen at the Federal Investigation Department of the Nigeria Police Force in Alagbon, Ikoyi, on Wednesday where some individuals arrested in connection with the illegal distribution of the movie were paraded, the actress lamented about shooting a movie close to N500m and seeing it leaked to the public.

She said, “If you look at me, you will know that I am actually not okay. I had to come from the hospital. I have been having panic attacks. It is not easy shooting a movie close to N500m and you just see it out there.

“I saw my movie and another movie and I was like, am I dreaming? And they said, ‘No, you are not dreaming’. And the next thing, they put it on Telegram, telling people they are going to upload it by 12pm. I opened the link and I saw Malaika, I wanted to run mad, it was like my whole world was coming to an end in front of me.

“You know as a woman, I was crying and my manager said, ‘Don’t worry’, and he started making calls to my godparents, my husband and the Filmone team. So we started calling tech guys and how to get to Google. They had to call Telegram. So the next thing, they started breaking the links. Google started to send emails telling us that they had broken the links.”

Abraham recalled how she was desperate to the level where she had to start begging one of the culprits on Telegram.

She also claimed to have expressed surprise that “one of those guys had to tell me to send a mail to a particular email and I said, ‘On my film!’ “I don’t know what to do; this is my life, this is the only thing I do.

That is why I decided to take it upon myself, upon manager and Filmone to fight piracy and this is not about me; not about Malaika, not about any movie in the cinema, not about tribe but about the creative industry. It is about the entertainment industry because this is the only thing we do.”

The actress further revealed that she had lost a lot of money due to the development, as people preferred to wait for the movie to be released for free online.

“I have lost a lot because even when you go on social media, you will see people saying, oh, we will not go to the cinema. We will wait for the movie to drop. Even fans abroad will say they are waiting for the meeting to drop and obviously, anyone who is waiting for such a particular thing will not watch the movie. But it is okay, I am doing well. It is not about the money now. It is about fighting a particular cause for the entertainment and creative industry which I am happy about,” she added.

Netflix removes Nayanthara film after backlash from Hindu groups

An Indian film that received backlash for “hurting Hindu religious sentiments” has been removed from Netflix, days after it began streaming.

Netflix said the Tamil-language film – Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food – was removed at its “licensor’s request”.

The movie stars actor Nayanthara as a Hindu Brahmin woman who aspires to become a chef.

She is shown going against her family’s religious beliefs and eating meat and learning to cook it.

Many Brahmins do not eat meat in accordance with rigid caste rules.

Members of hard-line Hindu organisations had objected to this and other scenes in the movie, including one where the actress is shown offering namaz, or Muslim prayers, before cooking biriyani.

Some Hindus also took offence at a scene where a Muslim character says that Hindu god Ram ate meat.

The film’s producers have not officially commented on the issue yet.

A police case has also been filed in Madhya Pradesh state against Nayanthara and two others associated with the film.

Supporters of hard-line Hindu groups have accused many films and shows in recent years of insulting religious sentiments. In 2021, the cast and crew of an Amazon Prime show, Tandav, apologised after being accused of mocking Hindu gods.

Annapoorani released in theatres on 1 December and got mixed reviews from critics – it was praised for showing a woman from an orthodox family following her dreams, but some called it “an-all-you-can-eat buffet of undercooked subplots”.

It was cleared by India’s Central Board of Film Certification – known as the censor board – which reviews movies for public exhibition.

But the controversy began weeks later when people watched it on Netflix, where it began streaming on 29 December.

Last week, a man named Ramesh Solanki filed a police complaint in Mumbai objecting to several scenes – a case hasn’t been registered there yet. Mr Solanki describes himself as a “proud Hindu Indian nationalist” on X (formerly Twitter).

Reuters reported that members of the hard-line Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) shouted slogans outside the Netflix office in Mumbai.

On Thursday, Mr Solanki and a VHP spokesperson shared a letter of apology from Zee Entertainment Enterprises – the parent company of Zee Studios, which co-produced Annapoorani.

“We have no intentions as co-producers of the film to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus and Brahmins community,” the letter said.

It also said the producers would address the concerns about the film and were working with Netflix to remove the film from its platform “until edited”.

Zee did not respond to the BBC’s email seeking comment.

While some said they were happy at the movie being taken off Netflix, others have expressed dismay. Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu said this would set a “dangerous precedent”.

‘Autopsy report, son’s DNA test delaying Mohbad’s burial’ – Singer’s dad

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has said the remains of the singer will not be laid to rest until the autopsy result is released and a DNA test is conducted on his grandson, Liam.

He assured that once the two issues are sorted out, Mohbad’s body will be reburied.

Mr. Aloba, who spoke in a recent interview with TVC News, said he needs a DNA test result to be certain about his grandson’s paternity because he doesn’t know to whom his placenta was given.

He said: “Mohbad had already been buried by me. They had to exhume his body for an autopsy. And since then, we are still expecting the autopsy result, which is necessary before you can even make any attempt to bury him.

“So we need the DNA and autopsy results. It’s very important. Those are the things that are delaying his burial. After they are sorted, we can make a move.

“We, the family, need the result of a DNA test on Mohbad’s son because, when Liam was born, I don’t know the person they gave the placenta to.”

Stefflon Don, Jada Kingdom fight dirty over Burna Boy

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has been caught up in the beef between his estranged British-Jamaican girlfriend, Stefflon Don, and rumoured Jamaican-American lover, Jada Kingdom.

The dancehall stars have been throwing shade at each other over the ‘Last Last’ singer.

Trouble began when Stefflon Don, who was recently rumoured to have rekindled her love affair with Burna Boy, released a new song, ‘Dat A Dat,’ where she alleged that an unnamed woman slept with her partner.

However, given Burna Boy’s alleged romance with Jada Kingdom, it didn’t take long for her to respond to Stefflon Don.

She called out the British rapper via Instagram, urging her to come at her directly.

She denied having any sort of romantic relationship with Burna Boy and called the beef “weird.”

“It’s weird, because it’s behind a man… this n***a is for everybody. Last year she pass har remarks, I said nothing,” Jada said.

The American star explained in another Instastory post that she “clearly” doesn’t want Burna Boy.

“She’s the only one beefing over a man I clearly don’t want,” she said.

Jada is currently dating Pardison Fontaine.

Burna Boy sparked relationship rumours with her after he sang about his affinity for Jada Kingdom on Byron Messia’s ‘Taliban (Remix),’ including a Birkin Bag that he purchased for her.
