(CNN)Beyoncé will offer $5,000 grants to help people facing foreclosures or evictions due to the housing crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
People can apply for the grants beginning January 7, 2021, the singer announced on her website Tuesday. Grants will be sent out to the 100 people selected in late January.
“Beyoncé is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most. Phase Two of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will now help those impacted by the housing crisis,” according to a news release. “The housing moratorium is set to end on December 26th, resulting in mortgage foreclosures and rental evictions. Many families are impacted, due to the pandemic that resulted in job loss, sickness and overall economy downturn,” the release said.

Once the moratoriums are lifted, many of these renters will be expected to pay their entire back rent or come up with some sort of payment plan with their landlord — or they could face losing their homes.
Those who apply for the grants must submit the necessary documentation to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) by the deadline.
This is not Beyoncé’s first effort to help communities hurt by the pandemic. BeyGOOD has teamed up with the NAACP to support Black-owned small businesses impacted by the pandemic, so far providing 250 businesses with $10,000 grants.
In May, she set up mobile Covid-19 testing sites with her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, in their hometown of Houston, Texas. She also donated, in partnership with Jack Dorsey’s Start Small fund, $6 million to coronavirus relief in April.
JAY-Z may be making another power move. The Roc Nation mogul has reportedly been in talks to sell his music streaming service TIDAL to Jack Dorsey’s digital-payment company, Square Inc.
According to Bloomberg, JAY-Z has privately met with Dorsey multiple times during the pandemic. The potential deal is part of a push for Square to diversify. However, the negotiations may not result in an actual transaction.
JAY-Z acquired TIDAL from Swedish company Aspiro in March 2015 for a reported $56 million, but the streaming service has struggled to keep up with competitors, including Spotify and Apple Music. TIDAL hasn’t reported subscriber figures since 2016 when it had 3 million paying customers. TIDAL has benefited in the past from its exclusive album releases including Beyoncé’s LEMONADE, Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, and Rihanna’s ANTI.

This is not the first talk of a TIDAL acquisition. Back in 2016, there were reports that Apple and Samsung had interest in acquiring the streamer, but both companies denied the rumors.
Dorsey, who is also CEO of Twitter, has maintained a close friendship with JAY-Z and Beyoncé. They were photographed in the Hamptons in August and then again in November in Hawaii with Sean Penn.
In April, Dorsey’s #startsmall partneredwith Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD foundation to provide $6 million in funding to organizations providing mental wellness services during the coronavirus crisis.
Along with JAY-Z, TIDAL’s co-owners include high-profile artists like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Madonna. The service is available in 53 countries and offers more than 60 million songs and 250,000 videos.

Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski, has won the award for The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2020.
The Polish national team captain was named ahead of Barcelona and Juventus stars – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – to win the coveted prize.
He emerged the winner of the prize after he helped Bayern to win a treble – the Bundesliga league, Champions League, and the DFB-Pokal trophies.
Lewandowski, who finished as the top scorer in all three competitions, scored his 250th goal in the Bundesliga to help Bayern seal an important win over Wolfsburg in a match that ended 2-1 on Wednesday.
“He deserved it more than anyone else. He played the season of his life,” said Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after Lewandowski’s 55 goals in 2019/20 were a key factor in Bayern winning the treble.
Nicknamed ‘The Body’ and dubbed a ‘machine’ by his wife, the Poland forward has already scored 18 goals in 17 games this season.
The fact Lewandowski has had to wait until he is 32 to be crowned at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards is down to the way he proved himself in the knock-out stages of the Champions League last season. Manchester United came from behind to win 3-2 at winless Sheffield United in the English Premier League (EPL) on Thursday night, thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford.

Wizkid, a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, has recounted his experiences with police brutality, saying he was once arrested, harassed, and slapped by operatives in university before he became famous.
The 30-year-old music star brought the revelation to light during a recent interview with Naomi Campbell, an English model.
Wizkid said he was vocal about the recent #EndSARS protest because it was exciting that racism and police brutality gained a place in social discourse.
“I’m so happy that racism and police brutality has become part of our conversations. I felt great seeing what was happening. I’ve been harassed by the police countless times before I could get away from it for being me,” he said.

“I was in uni. I was harassed; arrested. Of course, I was dealt with, like, slapped by the police so many times. It was normal when that’s not supposed to be normal. For me, the fact that it (EndSARS) happened, I was so overjoyed.
“That’s why I was so vocal about it. It’s something that needs to stop. The kids are already here. We’re already dealing with no electricity, bad roads, bad governance, no jobs, terrible schools.”
According to him, police brutality shouldn’t compound existing problems plaguing the youth in Nigeria.
“When you get out of school and graduate, there’s still no job. The youth are dealing with these things daily. Going outside and getting arrested or being profiled shouldn’t be added to it,” the Afrobeats star added.
“That can be controlled so we need to fix that. It’s a terrible thing, man. People have lost their lives for the most ridiculous things. It was sad. That was just the right time for us to speak up. I will always speak my mind.”
Court records show Nygard was arrested under the Extradition Act and is to appear in a Winnipeg courtroom this afternoon.
The designer is facing a class-action lawsuit in the United States alleging the sexual assault of dozens of women.
Fifty-seven women — including 18 Canadians — have joined the lawsuit, which alleges that Nygard used violence, intimidation, bribery and company employees to lure victims and avoid accountability for decades.
Nygard has denied all allegations and blames a conspiracy caused by a feud with his billionaire neighbour in the Bahamas.
That suit was put on pause in the summer by a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Reasons for the stay in the suit were sealed, however, the court docket at the time said the stay resulted from a government motion that named three federal prosecutors.
The Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York did not respond to a request for comment at the time.

Actor Doyin Hassan, who is well known for his role in the popular gospel movies by Mount Zion, has lost his wife of 10-years Bolanle to the cold hands of death. One of the most popular roles he played was the role of “Iguanna” in the movie titled CAPTIVES OF THE MIGHTY.

The cause of death has not been made public, and the late Bolanle will be buried on Friday, December 18.

Nigerian singers, Omah Lay and Tems have been arraigned before the Makindye Division court in Kampala for flouting COVID-19 guidelines in Uganda.
The fast-rising stars were on Sunday December 13, arrested together with their managers for holding an illegal concert at Ddungu resort in Munyonyo where they gathered big crowds, contrary to President Museveni’s directives on the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
It was gathered that the organizers of the event disguised the show as a lunch and dinner event but it turned out to be a concert with large crowd in attendance.
Omah Lay, Tems, and the others were arrested and charged with doing “acts that are likely to cause the spread of infectious disease, Covid-19,” according to him Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luk Owoyesigyire, Kampala Metropolitan Police. Earlier in March, Museveni banned all music concerts, closed down bars, banned fans at all sporting events, and reduced the numbers of people who could attend church services.
Uganda’s Ministry of Health on Sunday reported 461 new confirmed coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases in the country to 27,532.

Ajax football star, Quincy Promnes has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a relative during a family party in the Netherlands.
According to De Telegraaf, the 28-year-old Dutch footballer was arrested by police on Sunday over the incident which occurred in late July.
The report said the family member was left with serious injuries after a fierce argument during a family party at a warehouse in Abcoude, just outside Amsterdam.
The relative is believed to have pressed charges last month and police spokesperson Jelmer Geerds confirmed a 28-year-old man had been arrested on Sunday.
“We only heard about the incident a month ago,” Geerds added. “An investigation was then started and this morning led to an arrest.”
The arrest occurred the day after Promes, who has made 49 appearances for the Netherlands, scored in Ajax’s 4-0 Eredivisie win over PEC Zwolle on Saturday.
The Dutch report adds the alleged crime of “assault resulting in serious physical injury” carries a maximum jail sentence of four years if the defendant is found guilty.
Promes, who previously played for Twente, Go Ahead Eagles, and Spartak Moscow, joined Ajax from Sevilla last year in a £14million deal.
Following hours of pressure from several Ugandan entertainers, Katwe Police has arrested Nigerian artiste Omah Lay for charges related to violating Covid-19 guidelines on entertainment.
Also in custody is Ivan Dungu, the manager of the venue which hosted Omah Lay’s concert that has since raised dissatisfaction from several Ugandans.
This was confirmed by Assistance Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire on his Twitter account, saying, ” Nigerian artiste Omah has been arrested by Katwe Police. The manager of the venue, Dungu Ivan and event promoter, Prima Kasana, are also in custody,” confirmed Owoyesigyire on Twitter.

Police is also looking for the area Officer in Charge of Police Station for failure to detect the criminal acts that took place in his area of jurisdiction.

The suspects are detained at Katwe Police Station and are being charged with doing acts that are likely to cause the spread of infectious disease, which is corona virus.

WBC champion, Tyson Fury is eager to fight British boxer, Anthony Joshua and believes he can win him in three rounds.

Twice Pulev was given a count by the referee in round three after he was left flailing on the ropes by an explosive burst of punches from Joshua.

“It was abt 7pm when I decided to stroll out of the Lagos Facebook Hangout party held at 16, Akin Osinyemi Street, off Allen Ave, Ikeja. Outside the building where I stood, I couldn’t help but shift attention to the man in an armless top & slightly over the knee trouser, raging.
He was mad that the party attendees littered the street where he obviously lives with their cars – a genuine concern (his gate was affected). There was a resident stranded in his car trying to access his compound but couldn’t.
Kuti’s fury leaped & began to ridicule the guy who block the access. Whether the guy knew or not that it was Kuti, he screamed back, asking him to take things easy before he leaves.
Next thing: Some three guys left Kuti’s side and rushed the guy with slaps and blows, while Kuti also landed him a heavy strike on his head amid screaming. This guy retreated, almost crying. He moved his car. But it wasn’t enough.
Kuti continued to rage at other car owners until one of the organisers, MM, showed up. In the middle of the effort to pacify, one of the bouncers told Kuti to calm down…
Next thing again, Kuti’s thugs rushed at the bouncer for such effontery. That’s where the party scattered.
This time around Kuti went into his compound and brought out a SHORT BLACK GUN! He was attempting to cork it but paused again… I called my friend that we needed to leave immediately.
I knew trouble was looming on a large scale when the guy who was earlier assaulted returned to the scene. Barely 30 minutes after we left, I got feedback from people at the party that there had been a gunshot, forcing everyone to scamper.
I’m shocked that Kuti will rather make his point with a gun than engage the organisers…seeing him in the movie ‘Citation’ & how he found his voice during #EndSars Protests reinforces the feeling that things aren’t what they seem. KUTI was a thug to behold.”
