Pregnant woman who stripped and tied up her 12-years-old daughter in Delta sentenced to five days community service for child abuse

A Magistrate Court 1 sitting in Agbarho, Delta State on Wednesday March 10, sentenced a pregnant woman, Mrs Betty Kennedy to five days community for child abuse. It was gathered that she stripped her 12-year-old daughter naked and tied her up with a rope for many days. She was also said to have stuffed a rag in the child’s mouth so she wouldn’t call out for help. The incident happened on Monday, March 8, in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

After a video showing neighbours rescuing the naked child went viral on social media, members of the Conference for the Actualization of Human right led by child right advocate, Comrade Uruemu Akpovwa Olawale, stormed the house with police and arrested the woman. During interrogation, Mrs Kennedy claimed that her daughter was in the habit of leaving the house and disappearing for many hours so she had to tie her up. Mrs Kennedy was arraigned in court on Wednesday, March 10, for child abuse. The presiding Magistrate sentenced her to five days community service after she pleaded for leniency. Speaking after her sentencing, Mrs Kennedy advised other women to stop abusing their children. “Say no to child abuse and molestation. It ‘s not fair to maltreat your child. I am here because I maltreated my child. So I want to say, women should stay away from molesting their children for they are the leaders of tomorrow.

Comedian, Mr Macaroni, urges youths to prepare for 2023 election

Ace Nigerian comedian Adebola Adebayo better known by his pseudonym, Mr Macaroni has urged youths in the country to prepare for the 2023 election.

Mr Macaroni in a social media post admonished youths to exercise their civic responsibility by registering for their voter’s card and preparing to elect new leaders into power.

Macaroni, one of the most outspoken entertainers in the country stated that youths should desist from being bystanders and mere onlookers.

Taking to Twitter, Macaroni wrote;

“Nigerian Youths, Time no dey ooo…

Even while we continue to use our voices and platforms to speak up, we must take voting seriously come 2023!!

We know say e no go easy oo but let’s make efforts!!

We must get our PVC and Vote!!!”

The social media continued;

“Nigerian Youths, we must wake up ooo.

We have only ourselves.

Sheyb una see how dem don dey defect from PDP to APC and from APC to PDP!!

They don’t have shame ooo.

All of them are the same.

They are all United in corruption and impunity.

Voting is an Avenue we have to explore.”

In his concluding paragraph, Mr Macaroni told Nigerian youths to continue to fight for their fundamental rights by agitating against the corrupt government.

Seasoned Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar has revealed why it is pivotal never to listen to motivational speakers.

In her post on social media, she admonished her followers to follow their intuition rather than follow the advice from motivational speakers.

Abubakar mentioned that it is pivotal to follow God’s instruction instead of listening to the words motivational speakers have to share.

The movie star made this known via her Instagram page on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Don’t listen to motivational speakers for your own greater good, your health, and mental health. Go talk to God, avoid them, and fear them,” she wrote.

How Prince Harry inherited $13M at age of 25

Prince Harry and his brother, Williams inherited the sum of $13 million each from their late mother, Princess Diane at the age of 25.

Ripples Nigeria gathered that Prince Harry became eligible for his inheritance at the age of 25.

According to PageSix, the inheritance was originally around $8.9M which grew with investments and as the principle accrued interest.

Harry and his brother William, began receiving their inheritances at the age of 25, with the full amount arriving by the age of 30, and Harry took home approximately $13M.

It would be recalled that during his now-famous interview with Oprah, Harry revealed that he had been cut off financially by the royal family and they were only able to survive due to the inheritance left to him by his mother.

“I have what my mum left me and without that, we wouldn’t have been able to do this,” he said.

Actor Michael Jordan confirms directorial debut in Creed III

Hollywood actor, Michael B. Jordan has confirmed that he will be making his directorial debut in the third part of the Creed franchise.

Ripples Nigeri gathered that the 34-year-old actor will make his directorial debut with the new movie in addition to reprising his role of boxer Adonis Creed.

Jordan, who starred as Adonis “Donnie” Johnson Creed in the first two films (which continued Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky series), has long been linked to the director’s chair.

His Creed co-star Tessa Thompson revealed back in December that the actor would be directing the third instalment of the boxing movie series.

That has now been confirmed, with MGM announcing overnight that Creed III will be directed by Jordan and is set for release in November 2022 (via Deadline).

As well as Jordan and Thompson, Phylicia Rashad will star in the new film, which is being written by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin based on an outline by Creed director Ryan Coogler. It’s not yet clear if Stallone will appear in Creed III as Rocky Balboa.

“Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right,” Jordan said in a statement.

Apostle Suleman’s accuser, Davids, apologizes “for the manner in which he reached out for help”

A fellow pastor, Mike Davids, who accused Apostle Johnson Suleman of having sexual relations with his wife, Pastor Faith Edeko has apologised.

Recall that Mike Davids, a former pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, claimed the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, slept with his wife and threatened to make him “disappear”.

He alleged that while he was still in the Ministry, Apostle Suleman slept with his wife and then transferred her to Abuja where she is now heading the church’s branch and stopped him from gaining access to his children.

However, Pastor Faith Edeko of the Omega Fire Ministries has denied the allegations of alleged infidelity, threat to life and obstruction of access to children, levelled against the Senior Pastor and General Overseer, Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, by her ex husband, Pastor Mike Davids.

In his apology video, Mike Davids said he’s been on a “spiritual sojourn” and received instructions from the Lord to apologise to his “father in the Lord” Apostle Suleman.

In his apology, he said “In view of the issue that has been ongoing for the past weeks now, I have personally been on spiritual sojourn and I have received instruction from the Lord to take the step I am taking right now.

“So, personally, I want to apologize to my father in the Lord, Apostle Joshua Suleman and mama Lizzy Johnson Suleman and Omega Fire Ministries around the world for the friction that were generated and probably in the manner which I reached out for help, I want to say I am deeply sorry. Thank you very much and God bless you”.

Carmen is a 29-year-old Brazilian female who suffers from a xeroderma pigmentosum hereditary condition. Anyone with this disorder should not be subjected to sunlight or UV radiation. If exposed to UV light in the sun for a few minutes, it can induce serious sunburn and freckles. Carmen has since lost one cheek, her left ear, because she experienced these unimaginable limitations throughout her childhood, her nose is partially lost as a result of nasal cancer. And she’s got a blind eye too. Doctors attempted their hardest to rebuild it with an operation, but it failed.

Throughout all these, Carmen has endured over 120 repair procedures. These circumstances rendered it difficult for her to go to classes, and she only studied at home. Getting a career is another matter for her. But all these limitations and pain throughout her life did not hinder Edmilson to love and share Carmen’s life.

Her tale became popular when she started a fundraiser for aid to finance her dream wedding with her fiancé, and also to renovate her home. And people responded with generosity and money to sponsor their wedding and the wedding took place on July 31, 2020. She now even has a spacious home. Andrew Jones is a US citizen and he is from connecticut. He is a body builder and also, he is a fitness model. In the year 2012, Andrew jones was diagnosed with a heart disease called Cardiomyopthy. This made him become weak that he was unable to stand on his feet or walk. He was later told that he needed a heart transplant or he may die. He was then given an artificial heart which he do carry inside a bag pack.

The artificial heart is connected to two batteries which made him to be able to retain strength. He once said it that anytime he plugs his phone at night, he do also plug his heart.

Man Kills An Elderly Palm Wine Tapper

There are lots of unfortunate incidents that happen on a daily basis and this is another one which has been recorded as a man have been caught for killing an elderly man who is a palm wine tapper in an area in Cameroon.

The unfortunate incident happened in Babadjou today which is March 10th, 2021 after a palm wine whose name is Pa Takon over a disagreement that happened in a farm between him and a boy called Merlino.

As it was reported, Merlino bought some palm wine from the old man called Pa Takon, tasted it and asked for more but the palm wine tapper refused to give him which led to the unfortunate incident.

Merlino became very angry and he took a rod and hit it on the head of the palm wine tapper which led to his death as it was stated that he died on the spot.

LASU ranks second in 2021 emerging economies’ ranking

Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has been ranked second in the 2021 Emerging Economies University ranking.

The Coordinator of LASU Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ademola Adekoya, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Ripples Nigeria garnered that LASU was ranked among the best three Nigerian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking in 2020.

According to the statement, LASU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyedamola Oke, received the news of the university’s new ranking on Tuesday.

Oke congratulated the staff and members of the university community on the feat.

The statement read: “The new status of the university is heart-warming and a further attestation to her quality teaching, research exploits, and robust service delivery.

“The Acting Vice-Chancellor applauds the invaluable and immeasurable contributions of all stakeholders including; the Lagos State Government, members of staff, and our world-class students towards the newest ranking of the institution.

“Without the unwavering support and commitment of all stakeholders to the LASU project, the feat would have been unattainable.”

Seven killed in renewed communal clash in Ebonyi

At least seven persons were on Tuesday confirmed killed in a lingering communal conflict between Ezza-Effium and Effium in Ebonyi State.

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi had summoned and arrested stakeholders of the two communities in a bid to end the killings, but the two warring communities have remained adamant.

The Commissioner for Internal Security, boarder peace and conflict resolution, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha said the government will tackle the security situation.

As for how many that were killed this morning, police will let us know. Government has done what it’s supposed to do to make sure that the peace which lasted for three weeks now is sustained. But the state government will not be tired of tackling this security situation in that community,” he said.

“We will find out what is really the problem again that caused this renewed crisis.

We are not yet sure whether those killed were up to four or six persons as people who are from that place are saying. It is still a rumour until we are sure. However, it is the duty of the government to provide security and we have deployed more troops to the place.

“I don’t know why this has continued, in fact, the state government will take a certain measure that is harder. We will ensure that all the stakeholders are rearrested,” he stated.

However, an unconfirmed report from sources in Effium community alleged that as much as twelve persons reportedly lost their lives during the renewed hostilities.

However, the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP. Aliyu Garba said one person was killed.

“Police is doing everything possible to put an end to the crisis in Effium community. We have understood the modus operandi on how both Ezza-Effium and Effium operate. There is no need of blowing Effium crisis. Only one person was killed,” he stated.

Armed Robbers Who Killed Two POS Agents In Aba Have Been Arrested

Some people have no regards for humans, they kill without remorse.

Recall, in the month of January, 2021, a POS Agent identified as Ezinne Grace Iroh was robbed and shot in the chest by unknown gunmen.

This attack took place at Ukaegbu Road, in Ogbor Hill area of Aba, Abia State. Miss Ezinne was rushed to the hospital after she was shot in the chest while struggling with the armed robbers, but she sadly died in the hospital.

Also recall that a POS Agent identified as Victor Chimaobi Ibgokwe was robbed and killed in Aba, a week before miss Ezinne was attacked by the armed robbers.

According to reports from AF-News and several eye witnesses i contacted, the unknown gunmen responsible for the attack of both Victor and Miss Ezinne has been arrested.

Sources reveal that one of the robbers was a neighbour of Miss Ezinne.

According to a video released by AF-NEWS, the names of the robbers are Ralph Godwin from Kogi State(Gang leader), Uzoka Samuel from Obingwa in Abia State, Godswill Kalu from Ohafia in Abia State, and Chibuike Samuel from Mbaise in Imo State.

Chima Umesi was 4 years old when he was reported missing by his father in Akabuka community of Ogba/Egbeme/Ndoni Local Government Area, Rivers State in 2011. The birth of Chima Umesi still lives as a mystery as his mother was a mad woman when she gave birth to him. Although, Chima’s mother already had 2 children (male & female) before she had the mental illness. Chima’s father who loved his wife, contained her in his house as she goes out to the street, and returns home.

However, when Chima got missing, his father searched for him, together with neighbours. A year later, Chima’s mother died. His father also died few years after the death of his wife, leaving his 2 children to elder brother.

Just about 5pm yesterday, a relative to Chima’s family brought him home, saying “I saw him in a street in Omoku, and I was moved to bring him home for questioning. After series of questions, I found out he is my relation”.

Chima’s uncle confirmed him to be his late brother’s son as Chima said the man he was staying with constantly mentions the name “Egba” while sleeping. “Egba” is his father’s name.

Chima who is now 14years old revealed the identity of the woman he was staying with. From the little investigation done, a woman who lives close to his house stole and sold Chima out. The said woman have been accused of child trafficking on several occasions, including that of her grand child.

Chima’s uncle who chose to handle the case in the traditional way said the 14-year-old boy looks sick, and not mentally sound, thereby suggesting money ritual case. The family was happy to have him back as investigation is ongoing.
