Two Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Udo Peter and Rev. Fr. Philemon Oboh, who were abducted in Edo State have regained their freedom.
The priests were rescued unhurt by security operatives hours after the Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, ordered security chiefs to rescue them.
It would be recalled that Rev. Fr. Peter of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Uromi and Rev. Fr. Oboh of St. Joseph Retreat Center, Ugboha in Esan South-East, were abducted along the Benin-Auchi Expressway, between Ehor and Iruekpen on Saturday, July 2.Â
Meanwhile, against the backdrop of the upsurge in kidnapping in the state, Comrade Shuaibu, after a series of meetings with security stakeholders, declared Government’s resolve to rejig its security architecture.Â
Shaibu also assured Edo people and residents that the government will not back down on its massive and aggressive war declared on common criminals and enemies of the people who have brought unrest into the State.
