Another set of policemen have reportedly been killed at two checkpoints in Obubra LGA in central Cross River State on Wednesday morning.
Witnesses said arms belonging to the police officers were carted away by the gunmen who were heard ‘chanting IPOB songs’.
The early morning attack occurred at Ofotura where two officers were shot and killed while four other officers were killed at Oyadama checkpoint.
One soldier is also reported shot in the hand but is believed to have survived the gun shot.
PRO of the state police command, Irene Ugbo, said they had not yet received such report.
The Police Community Relations Committee in the state has condemned the recent killing of police officers in the state.
The PCRC Chairman Barr. David Amieye in an interview confirmed the incident.
Amieye called on the commissioner of police not be discouraged in the fight against criminals.
He called on the public to volunteer information to the police to help them arrest the culprits.
Ten police officers have been killed in the last one week.
